I have Nokya yellows right now, and before those I had the blue ones. The blue ones werent very bright, and it was kind of hard to see.

The yellow ones are VERY bright though, and I love them.

Blue ones kind of suck.

I have them on my SC300. The SC will get an HID upgrade eventually.

The Volvo will get a set of Nokya yellows.

It also depends on the bulb number you have. I think H4's seem brighter by nature than say, a 9006, anyway; but that's just my opinion.

Are they actually those wattages, or are they the "look like" high wattage because of the blue/purple tint on the bulb.

Higher wattage bulbs burn at a higher colour temperature, making the light they produce bluer. Bulb manufacturers take advantage of people's gullibility, and market standard-wattage bulbs with a tint as being the same brightness as high wattage bulbs. In fact, the tint means they produce even less light than a standard bulb.

You really want to upgrade? Philips Premium or Osram Super are 30% brighter -- actually brighter, not just coloured. Philips VisionPlus and Osram (not Sylvania) Silverstar are even stronger, though you pay for it in cost and bulb life.

If you're really obsessed with pretending your car has HID, try Osram Nightbreakers -- ultra-high efficiency producing a bluer light.

I had some Nokya Arctic blue 6500K bulbs, and they did melt my connectors. If you're going to buy them, definitely invest in the upgraded wiring as well.
