hey guys im happy to say that i may soon become a 3rd gen '85 owner. im not quite sure which trim it is but im going to take a look at it this weekend. my friend is selling it, and im fairly sure it is in working condition and runs smoothely. better yet its only for $800, does that seem good you guys? could u give me the trim levels and hp/torque numbers? thanks guys. :bigthumbu

heres a compilation of stock specs that are for my car. most of them should apply no matter which trim or body style you get. they had 3 different trims: ST, GT, and GT-S. there's not much difference between the GT and GT-S aside from solid rear axel on GT, Independent rear suspension on GT-S, different rim styles, fender flares on GT-S. the STs lose alot of their luxury options and are only available as coupes. $800 sounds about right for what ppl are paying for them now in fair condition. its more than likely it is running smoothly since the 22Rs were bulletproof. if its not theres something seriously wrong with it.

$800 is a good price as long as its not rotten or mechanically sick.

good luck fella.

i talked to the guy and he said theres around 80k on the engine, nobody in his family really wants to drive it, and he says its in goood running conditions, with no accidents. the only thing is, i believe its the coupe, which i really dont like the styling of. do they all come with the 22re? even if its the st model?

bleh, that site has some misinformation on it. american 3rd gen celicas ALL got the 22r, early gt-s got 22r-ec, some early gt and all st got 22r (carbed). ALL 85s got the 22r-ec. that site says we got the 2.2 liter 22r but its really 2.4 liter. america never got the st hatchback but other countries did. the headlights they have marked as st are actually the early style lights (82/83), the headlights they have marked as xt are later style lights (84/85).

id say go for it, with 80k that engine isnt even broken in yet. ;) you may not like the coupe styling but it grows on you after awhile.
