So if we get this 240sx, we are going to re-paint it since the clear coat is peeling and it needs some minor body work. Right now, it is a maroon color.

We have talked about it, and have come up with a few ideas..

-Flat black
-Gloss black
-Metallic black

Other ideas are welcome.

I like the idea of black, just because I think that black 240's look nasty.

BTW, I think I got my dad kind of sold on the idea of getting it. I told him I would give him some money back for it once I get my financial aid refund and tax refund and that I will buy it from him completely in the future.

Indeed. I actually like white on the 240's a lot though, another one of my friends has a white one:

His is fully gutted except for the passengers seat and has basically a full roll cage lol

Nice!

I like the look of flat black in a way, and I like that it is REALLY cheap to do, but then again, it seems like it is getting played out a bit much anymore...

Metallic black looks ABSOLUTELY AWESOME, but it is also a lot more expensive.

Gloss black looks good, and is a happy medium of the two, but it is kind of too normal..

I dont know, it is a tough decision.

What, no '01 Celica liquid silver metallic on the list?! Blasphemy! :hehe:

Flat black, if done correctly, looks absolutely amazing IMO.

Geebes- I would repaint it maroon, but if I did it would be metallic... and maybe a shade darker...

rule of thumb, keep it as close to original paint color as possible, trust me. I'd go with a color as close as that maroon color it is as possible.

an example: dude that owned my ST before me, painted it from its maroon color, to blue, then to black, it looks horrible now. PLEASE dont make that mistake

BUT if you must do a different color, make sure its done GOOD.

flat black is overdone. do a nice regular black. that would be best.

Yea gloss black on black wheels or white on black would look good, I'm tired of my Flat black it, gets boring after awhile, plus I think it belongs more on trucks and hot rods

If I paint it, the door jambs and engine pay will be painted as well.

I am not going to completely cheap out on a project, thats just not how I am.

if its in good condition, get it. Cars are a ton of fun, the s13's are 50 times easier to get stock parts for and plenty in the yards. Cars run like champs too. Never a complaint under the hood. Again, tons of fun and easy to break loose.

^Thanks for the input man! I really hope my dad decides to get it, because I will buy it from him as a 2nd car and for a project.

wouldnt waste your time on paint....... put the money towards bushing kit/suspension and a q45 diff.

Well, I want to get it looking nice and get the dings and stuff fixed before dumping money into aftermarket and suspension upgrades.

looking at those pictures make me regret not gettin the 200sx (i didn't get it cuz it was pink.....)

but IMO, silver doesn't look good on it...and the flat black just makes it look old...metallic black is awesome, though...and so is the white..makes it look space-age.

I would try the $50 rustoleum roll on paint job. I have been wanting to try this for a while, but cant ever bring myself to. I hear you can get pretty good results with a bit of buffing. Gloss black all the way!!

I say go Maroon and try to add a little depth to the color, or white. If it's the hatchback 240, maybe paint the roof and A-pillars gloss black and get the windows tinted. That would be awesome.

If it has to be black, go a high-quality gloss or metallic black, both would look good. The ONLY flat-black car I've seen that I liked was a 1920s era rat rod, and to make it look that good the owner spent more on the flat paint than he would have on a gloss paint.

Hell no, I am not going to go to ace and get a roller to paint a car..lol.

If I was gonna do something cheap like that, I would rattle can the bitch.

You can get paint cheap online.

I was looking around, and you can get all the supplies for around $200.

Well, the kid decided that he doesnt want to sell it now.

Kind of upsets me, but in another way it is good, cus my dad wants to keep the money to put towards a new roof.

Oh well, we will find another car for that amount.

Thanks for all the input guys!

Oh well, we are on the look for some others in the area, and we have found a few that interest us including a 5th gen st, a couple other s13's. an aw11, and some other random cars...
