yep pretty much my dream car. Motortrend Review (http://motortrend.com/roadtests/coupe/112_0407_lotus/)

With great relief, we can report that the 2005 Lotus Elise apparently will demand no apologies and require no special considerations as it goes on sale in this country. But that was hardly a foregone conclusion prior to our first drive of the new U.S.-spec Elise at the beautiful Barber Motorsports Park outside Birmingham, Alabama. With this $40,000 car, Lotus is effectively relaunching its brand in America (the marque has become almost invisible through years of dwindling sales of the dated Esprit), so a lot is riding on its success. But given the checkered history of Lotus cars through the decades, we weren't sure what to expect.

That just sickens me on how toyota missed out on putting the 2zzge into the mr-slow.

What is the matter with you?

Who acts like that?

a car that will do a sub 5 second 0-60, outtrack damn near anything on the planet and do it for 40k?

It is a bit strange but it isnt ugly.

The car is amazing.

Man, ugly? Got to be kidding me! It has the right drivetrain layout, light, sticky as flypaper and vicious looking. I would LOVE to have an Elise sitting next to the MR2 and Celica on the driveway.

Meh its alright, i really don think its going to have the best sales in the world. IMHO, i think its underpowered, yes its sane, but sane isnt always fun.

I predict sales very similiar to the toyota MRS.

I think the elise is an amazing car. Its not meant to have huge horsepower, it is a basically a pure handler with enough power for it to be competive with higher horsepower cars with less sophisticated handling.

Pictures of an elise just dont do it justice after seeing it up close.

Underpowered?

That car will kick your ass and its stock and has no turbos.

And put it in the twisties against a vette, ferrari, etc and it will STILL hang.

Lets just put it in relativity...

If you have 2500 lbs curb weight youd have to have 250hp to keep up with an elise.

If you are 2700-2800 youd better have 280hp or so to keep up.

Not that many people on here have that much, an elise would dust most any of us straight line, and in the twisties an MR2 would get its ass handed to it.

It is an amazing car.

just watch the Top Gear on it and see what it tracks next to... It tracks higher than most EVERYTHING they have ever tested.
