i have looked and failed to find the info i need. i am currently wondering if the gt4 awd tranny had a mode select.....

an awd mode, or a rwd mode. anyone know? and if it doesnt, is there a toyota tranny that does?

It had a dyno mode that made it FWD only.

damn, i want to be able to make it RWD & AWD at the touch of a button. thinks it possible to mess with the tranny to make it do that?

im guessing NO.

maybe a high performance transmission shop could figure that out and make it happen

So now you're trying to take a 5th gen celica... mount a 2jzgte longitudally mated to an awd tranny that you can convert to rwd with a button..... with what axles again?

I don't think there's an AWD tranny that mounts to 2jz anyways. Just stick with the RWD only to save you a LOT of headache.

i nkow it wont mount correctly, i plan on fabbing an adapter bracket for the two pieces to fit. have custom splines made if i have too, and even the half shafts from a pro shop here in town. i have talked to them about it and they are up for this mad scientist creation.

now yes i would love to make it AWD and RWD if possible. if not ill keep it AWD only with the dyno button mentioned before.

You got a brave shop out there.

If i ask shops out here if they could do a 3sgte swap into a celica they tell me to smoke another rock.

ya they are quite brave, i have run into 99% of the shops telling me to "bang a rock against my head" and then saying Ummm NO.

it wasnt the response i wanted. OBVIOUSLY.

but i have a *couple* shops that will give it a shot. plus 90% of the work will all be done at home, me and my father have quite the garage at home. really its a 5 car shop with a 2 post lift. so yes this will all be fun.

this is not gonna be a summer project. im planning it taking a couple years. but in the end, it will be a unique one of a kind car.
