There is a 90 GT listed on ebay that seems too good to be true. Has anyone checked this one out? I can tell from the pics that it is a smokers car. Was wanting to know about auto trannys in these cars...how are they? Is there a common failure on them?

That's about what it should go for....

Comes with free coke on the driver's carpet, which is pretty cool. :D

The lack of engine bay pictures does concern me, plus when you crank the heat on, you'll be able to smell the smoke again. I've had my car over a year, and when I run the heat, still smells like smoke. Mine had even less miles on it (54,xxx).

If you got it, I wouldn't worry about trying to increase the power of the car, maybe just tweak the suspension to make it handle better.

If you're looking for an old car with low miles.... look for something with a lower resale. Because at the end of the day... you're still paying almost $3k for an 18 year old Celica. Which... if you like them that much, that's fine. I personally, do not.

So get something that depreciates worse, and get just as good of a car for cheaper.

Such as.... a Ford Escort.

Research my good man. Notice i didn't say what trim level. I'm not talking ford built 1.9 SOHC Escort.

Geebes, what year is your wife's?

It's pretty funny the silly biases on this site sometimes.... Especially when cars that we tend to hate are the darlings of forums that actually race. (Hondas, some nissans, neons, miatas, and now, a Ford Escort GT) While we stick to our cars like fanboys, even though they are DEFINITELY not great performers, and weren't even at the top back in the day. Yeah... they have potential, but it takes a lot more work to really unlock it.

I won't pay more than a grand for a FWD celica, unless it's a 7th gen GTS.

its a 98. Its been reliable. I just don't like it. The quality isn't there, and you can definitely tell its an economy car.
