Hey my celica is a 90 and i was just making sure if the 93 shifter would fit? i heard all 90-93 were interchangeable. as you all know the 92-93 shifter is bit smaller and the shifts are also a bit shorter than the 90-91. well i went to the local pull a part. and found a 93 hatch. so i took out the shifter assembly out and the assembly was different than the one in my 90.(different mounting holes) so i just left the assembly there and only took the shifter. now the question is will just the shifter out of the 93 fit in the assembly of the 90? i just want to make sure before i start pulling stuff apart. lol

thanks for any help!!!!!!!

this is a pic of a 90 and a 93 (right) shifter. (i also took out a 90 shifter a pull a part lol free)

Don't see why it wouldn't fit, but I'm no expert. I only have experience with taking apart 92/93 shifter. I also have read that the 7th gen shifter fits 5th gens also.

yea guys. it looks like it should but you never know. im going to to try to install it tomorrow and i will let you guys know for sure. the only thing i see that would give trouble is the bottom length. hopefully it doesn't hit the bottom since it's longer.
guess we would have to see. lol

If it does, you can just add some washers to space it up a little.

It'll make a HUGE difference.... i actually like the stock 92-93 shifter. It's in the right place, and the shift throw isn't bad at all. Nice and precise. Not like the 6 foot long monstrosity of the 90-91s.

If you think the 90/91 shifter sucks, and the 92/93 is better, get your hands on a TWM short shifter. I think it's one of the best mods I've done to my car.

update:

installed this past weekend and everything went in without any problems.
it is 100 times better than before, wait a million times better!!! well i recommend this if you don't have the funds to get a twm, then just get a 92-93 shifter.
