I put german castrol in my car this oil change, and about a week or so later my car is loud as heck, i think it might be the exhaust i'm going to check it here soon, but does anyone else put german castrol in there 4afe or something similar? What oil SHOULD i use? german castrol is 0-w30

That is way too thin. You may as well start the car dry. Use 10w-30 or 10w-40.

There's no such thing as too thin on startup ;) People are using even thinner oils with great wear characteristics. Go on http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php and check the oil analysis. The GC is a great oil to use.

Yeah, my Jetta used a 0w-40 Mobil1. I doubt the oil had anything to do with how loud the car is.

I personally wouldn't go lower than a 5w30 oil myself. Those 0w oils are typically reserved for hybrids.

Stay away from Castrol... I swore by Mobile 1 till I saw the results of it compared to Royal Purple..

Also stay with the recommended 10w30

Oh btw the noise is the down pipe unhooking from the manifold the 2 sided studs some how fell out with the nuts... Blah!

Do a search on the board for Royal Purple, there is a great wear test link in it. If I can find it I will post it. I think they even test Castrol.
