I'm looking to possibly pick up a car to flip that needs a new timing belt (and water pump and shit while I'm in there).

Its a 1994 VW Jetta III with a 2.0L fourgerbilinder

Is it an interference or non-interference engine?

Google says interference.

Fuck that it probably needs a new engine.

Ok, this car belongs to my Grandpas wifes sister.

Apparently the timing belt snapped..

He replaced the timing belt and it still wont start...

I think the timing needs reset.

The mechanic offered her $200 and she said she would think about it.

If we could get it for $3-400 IO think it would be worth it.

All I would do is try and reset the timing and if it runs, then it would be well worth it.

As others have stated, it's probably facked.

That would be my guess.

I don't think I'll buy a car with an interference engine that "needs a new timing belt."

That's like the people that say "needs a tune up" or "the A/C needs to be recharged."

Its like really? You put $500 into a car for sensors and stuff and don't start at the easy shit? Lies.
