View Full Version : Input on what rims to get

Ok.... first off.... i love my 7th gen rims, i think they look just about perfect on the car.

BUT, all things point to the fact that putting 235-width tire may not be safe on a 16x6.5" rim.

So.... i need new rims.

Find me a 16" rim, preferably 16x7.5" or 16x8" that would look good on a black car. I am open to suggestions, HOWEVER, let's keep the weight down to 20lbs or less if at all possible. For instance, i think the Rota D2 would look GREAT on the car, but it weighs 26lbs apiece, so that's not going to fly.

Money is not a HUGE object in this case, but i'm also not too psyched about dropping a grand on rims alone, so let's keep this reasonable, otherwise i'd be buying some Works or Volks.

Sock 'em to me.

So far i'm liking the idea of Rota Slipstreams in black, with the polished face.

Hey, it's cheaper than TE37s.

Both!

I mean.... lightweight is relative... i'm not necessarily looking for full out race-weight rims.... but 25lbs is ridiculous.

15-20lbs, and looks good, has to be able to fit 235-width Hankook Ventus RS2s.

Would rather 16s, but if a great deal on some awesome 17s rolls around, i may reconsider.

Funny part is my motegi's aren't that heavy for chrome wheels. Great for the street but not for autox.

No offense meant to you..... but saying a Chrome 18 isn't THAT heavy is like saying that chick in the bodybuilding thread isn't THAT hideous....

^You think those would look good on a black celica? I could definitely more than deal with that price. :D

<EDIT>

Link me foo!

I want to see what other colors there are, and the offset. It looks like a +35.... Will i be able to clear that do you think? GTS fenders up front, narrowbody back.

Rota Boosts. Only thing that keeps me from buying is that I want 15s.

There should be no problem up front. Rear might need a small spacer to clear strut.

You probably can't see much from this old cell phone pic, but this is how much room I had with 17x7 +45, so you'll have 3mm less than that with 17x8 +35 according to the wheel offset calculator.

Ok... so i'll clear the strut.... think i'll be able to get by without rubbing if i roll the fenders with 235width tire and a 2" drop?

I know.... i'm complicated. :( And a little dumb. I'm just paranoid about ordering wheels without KNOWING what i want to do will work.

I really like the shadow black runaways.... i think they would look good on the car.

Thanks for the link!

please dont buy replica rims, the real manufactures are make this scene so awesome.. support them...

Weds SA-70 would look hot, dont know prices but they wont be cheap, wheels are an investment though.

if not some used bbs or works....or weds for that matter...

^ I agree with you to an extent...

But put it this way.... i bought the car for $600. Even the replicas cost about the same as that. I have no interest in blowing $2k on wheels on my car. Now, if i had an alltrac? Or a 10k mile 93 GT coupe? Definitely.

This is going to be a ghetto racer. It will probably NEVER look pretty. It won't be a show car, and it's not going to be a high dollar car.

Yeah, i saw your thread over there. I can't see the pics there, or on craigslist.

Link to what they are? I think you said they were 17x7.5s?
<EDIT>

I just found them. I'm gonna pass on them, not really what i'm looking for, but thanks for dropping by the thread! :D
