I like this car, but 3100 is way to steep. I want to make an offer at least. I haven't looked yet, I'm trying to learn about the car before I contact the seller. What do you guys think as far as general pricing, and other stuff to know?

These days, a clean, no accident, rust free car is worth 3k. Could try 2.5k, worst he can do is say no.

I'd pay the $3k for that car.

That 4th gen GTS is a steal, by the way.

Thanks! I love those 3rd gen LBs. Although, I'm limiting myself to local cars right now. Thats a little far from CO.

wow there's a good running 85 celica supra in the pa lehigh valley listing for 1000 dollars.... I personally wouldn't give that much for that old of a car... I paid less for newer and nicer... although i guess collectors value kicks in somewheres... just my .02

$1,200--$1,500 at best.

Do want.

If it has under 100k on it, it is worth it.

If it has under 200k it is worth ~$2k.

Over 200k and it drops to $1500. The car is worth at the least between $1500 and $2500.

He knows what he has, if you don't buy it, he will sit on it until someone else that knows what he has comes along and snaps it up.

I like that 3rd Gen, I always like the lay back eyes more than the pop-up eyes, but I like the Celica-Supra even more.

If I had room for more Celicas, I would snap that local one up. Plus they are cake to work on. Even after you drunkenly hop a curb and smash the oil pan!

witnessed. was not a good sight. well i guess it was until the end. 3rd gens understeer. lsd required for proper drift. <3

not so sticky tires would have been better for sideways action, like i said, i had the car set up for anti drift around the mountain

I just heard from the seller and the car has 90k miles. sooooo, I'm thouroghly tempted, I'm just worried the car will become a project before I'm ready. My 4g gts has that posistion more than adequitly filled. Granted that 20r would prolly be as reliable as my morning boner. Thats why I'm not sure, I'm not in the market for a project.... I'm trying to decide if it would be worth it to dd that car and build it up in 5-10 years.

how bad is tuning those carbs in winter and summer and all that?

usp45
10-24-2008, 01:10 AM
hmmmm... I thought about it. I could definatly snap it up, but 3000 right now is pushin it for me. Especialy for a 27 year old car. I need to live in my means And drop 1000 on somthing boring I think.

85gtsblackman
10-24-2008, 04:39 AM
when u get it just ditch the stock carb and get a webber 34/34 or a weber 32/36, if u want it to fly and dont care aboutg gas consuption put in a stage 3 cam and a dual syncroed weber 38/38

only thing that you will have to do in 25-75k miles is a timing chain

please go get that car and enjoy lightweight rwd

IMO, $3000 is too steep for any 2nd gen celica currently. They are not really collectors cars, and they are at that age where they are really just...old. If you really want a 2nd gen, wait around a bit. They come up for sale around here every once in a while, which is far more than first gens do.

Yeah I'll just wait, maybe I'll come across a 3rd gen LB for like 1000. I wish that one in knoxville was in denver.

If you see a decent one, snap it up. I've yet to see a 3rd gen around here that wasn't torn to shit. A few Celica Supras, but no true 3rd gens.

Thought I'd through these two out there.

3rd gen gts (http://denver.craigslist.org/cto/893629426.html)

1st gen liftback (http://denver.craigslist.org/cto/892932056.html)

The third gen seems like a bit of work, though. Be part of the 'cool' crowd and get the 1st gen :hehe: :bigthumbu

once had a 3rd gen st coupe... 22r, welded the diff, drifted great.... a little underpowered but on a rainy day wooo wee!
3rd gens round here all seem to have 200,000 miles or more and run 300 to 3,000.
my neighbor has a 84 supra hatch that is just a straight up celica on crack..
those are my fav. kind of celica; 3rd gen hatch.
