View Full Version : The Celica meets our new ride, the Delica (56k warning)

10-01-2008, 02:45 AM
As the title implies, we now have a Mitsubishi Delica for our forestry road exploration and mountain bike hauling needs.

Some details on our Delica...
Imported from Japan through Zen Autoworks (http://www.zenautoworks.ca)
Maintenance and compliance work done by Mardy at Amazing Auto Imports in Richmond, BC
1993 Mitsubishi Delica Exceed
7 passenger (2 front, 2 mid, 3 rear), 4X4, Auto (5 speed is geared quite a bit lower than the auto), P35W high roof model.
2.5 liter (4D56) turbo diesel cranking out a whopping 84HP and 145 lb-ft of torque.

There aren't any dirty pictures of it yet, but that'll change as soon as we get it off road. We have only had it for a little over a week...

Also, if these photos don't work, let me know and I'll host them elsewhere...

Honestly, I'm not ignoring the Celica!

Okay, the perspective is a little off here, but the Celica and Delica are pretty much identical in length...

it looks like a toyota lite ace

hahaha that is awesome!!!!! What kind of fuel mileage do you get with that thing?

10-01-2008, 03:06 AM
That thing is cool as hell!

Pretty darn sweet for an oldschool van. I like it. :)

I think it looks a little more like a Toyota Hi Ace, but with better entry and exit angles and factory bull bar :)

I haven't calculated the mileage I get on this van just yet. I suspect that it is way better than my old F350...but that's not saying much. It won't get fantastic gas mileage...in the 20ish MPG range. There are several people on the Delica forum that I frequent that run theirs on waste veggie oil...now that would be a cheap way to go once you process it. I may look into this option in the future.

What is hard to tell from the photos is how tall this thing is. Our Delica is not lifted at all and the BF Goodrich tires are only slightly larger than stock. When driving it, you look down on new Ford F150s and look right over top of SUVs like a GMC Jimmy. It's a hoot to drive. Can't wait to take it off road!!

That thing needs a full set of rally lights...bad. Guess which one I'm talking about?

That's badass!! Is there an american equivalent?

10-01-2008, 03:23 PM
I think there is an American equivalent, but it is 2 wheel drive, different front bumper, no bull bar, gas motor etc... I think it's simply called a Mitsubishi Van?

There will be fog lights going onto the Delica sometime in the future too. It's one of the only ones around here that doesn't have fog lights already on it :)

You should put a full set on the celica while you are at it. :)

The Celica exterior I plan on keeping pretty stock looking, other than the rims (which came on the car when I bought it) and the window tint. But thanks for the suggestion...
