okay so i took my car to a mechanic he says i've got no compression in 2 and 4 cylinders and 60 in 1 and 3 so he's saying a whole new motor and quoting me a little over a grand? which i think is kinda bullshit even with a one year warranty.... so the help i need is anyone have a motor laying around and how much with shipping i really need something quick cuz mine doesnt have long to live

$1000 for a motor installed isn't that bad.

You are gonna be paying $400 for a motor shipped to your door best case scenario, then parts, tools, misc. and so forth, you will drop another $300 easy to get it in.

So you figure you are paying $300 to let someone who knows what they are doing take care of it for you, stress free. And you have a warranty that for it for a year, you won't get that if you do it yourself.

I'm with everyone else, that's not bad at all. Murg summed up the total of what everything will cost you. And you don't get a warranty or someone to bitch at if it breaks when you do it yourself.

I dunno man... Sometimes you cant give a 5SFE away. Alot of the time you can find a free or really cheap lower mileage one from someone who swapped.

But thats only if you do your own work.

If youre paying a mechanic for labor, and for him to supply the motor? 1k for it all IS a good deal.

If it weren't a pointless effort, I would build a 4AFE to eat all of you alive...

But, uh...

Yeah.

I can get 40+ MPG if I milk it.

Pfft!

A good mechanic would be able to give you a good quote for out the door, of course +/- a hundred bucks or so for random parts, I would post up another thread and ask people if they know good shops around your area
