I was looking around ctech for some cheap mods to increase throttle response and came up empty except for the usual...

I was on Toyota Nation Camry Forums and there is a few posts related to adjusting the gear in the AFM to lean out the motor...

Has anyone tried this or am i just risking leaning out to far and exploding a piston... I read that the 3SFE engines are set rich to start to make them reliable is this true?

Thanks For you Input

The main problem with screwing with the AFM is that the sucker is very sensitive. Once you take it apart it almost never works again. If you do persue this I'd get a spare from the junkyard to mess with.

The Camry Forum has a detailed write up on this...

so it's not that i'm scared to do it... or afraid i'll ruin it... i'm just wondering if it's legit that the 3sfe is a rich running motor? and will like having the timing set about 14btdc and leaned a little?

It does run fairly rich, but I'd just adjust the timing first on that 5S. There's guys on here getting great results with just that.

eh the guy with the write up it sort of a douche in his wording... If you really are that interested go to a junkyard and grab one im sure theyll be around 20 bux or so and give it a try.

The 5s? or the 3s? I'm not worried about killing the AFM i'm just worried about the motor... does the 3S run rich to start?

Yes, the 3S-FE tends to run a little rich.

ive done it on a 3s to run larger injectors, but it never ran right with the 310's i put in it so i returned the gear seting back to stock and put back in the 210's
