I was wondering if anyone has looked into swapping a 5S-FE head with a 3S-GTE or 3S-GE head and what sort of work would be involved? Fuel system upgrade, fuel management upgrade, etc?

its ok. I wish I could have said more about it instead of just putting the link up there. I think his broke or something though and I havnt read through it in a while. So hopefully that thread answers your questions. If it doesnt, just ask and I am sure we can figure out the solutions.

I have always thought it would be a good idea to do a 5sge, just for the added displacement.

My only beef with a 5sge setup is that to get the full benefit, you really need to do something about the rods on the bottom end if you want it to last for a long period of time. 5sfe running at 3sge redline, the bolts will let go after some time.

Beyond that, i think it's an awesome idea for a 4th gen GTS. For a 5th gen, price vs. results may not be the best.

But i definitely would try it, and have always kindof wanted to.

I was actually thinking of doing a TVIS delete and just running some fuel management for a mild HP boost (20ish maybe?)

I'm not sure that the GE head would place nice with your FE electronics.

If you do the proper conversion, i wouldn't be surprised to see at least 20hp gain, depending on what gen head you go with.

Deleting the TVIS at such a basic stage of modification will harm you more than it helps you. As long as it's working properly already.

I've always wondered if there was a way to use the 5S TB on the GE head, just to simplify the electronics a bit.

I'll second that, I've had nothing but grief from AFM units and leaky air filter intake pipes in the past.

Can't see any reason why not with the correct injectors
