Ok...

First off, i am not TOO concerned with keeping any of these cars running.

Go with your gut feeling, which of these you actually WANT, not which is what the responsible adult in you would choose.

1990 240sx $700 no title (http://indianapolis.craigslist.org/cto/826616372.html)

1979 Fiat x1/9
$750 (http://indianapolis.craigslist.org/cto/823399685.html) Needs head gasket, already talked him down to $500.

1991 Toyota Camry 5 speed (http://indianapolis.craigslist.org/ctd/826336500.html) Talked down to $1000, rust above rear wheels.

1968 AMC Ambassador $1500 44k miles (http://indianapolis.craigslist.org/ctd/827499324.html) Need i say more?

I picked the Cam. Sorry dude but it's a bulletproof shot at reliability for a DD.

I think you want the damn fiat though.. just go with your gut instinct.

What is wrong with that Cressida I found for you?

Otherwise I might know a guy with a 4th Gen Hatch that needs a home...

Damnit Murg, you're keeping Mudhoney! The sooner you accept that the better off we'll be. :)

Yeah Ben, I say Camry. But that was expected of me, just look at my damn title! :hehe:

Camry vs X19 is like comparing the Battlestar Galactica to a Tie fighter.

Depends what you want it for... The X19 is becoming a collectors item but anyone over 6 foot (me) has no chance of ever being comfortable in it.

Italian cars are like women - Temperamental and hard to please but we can't resist them.

Glad to see you found the FHM Magazine mini I did in Johannesburg a few years ago. The GP stands for Gangsters Paradise

the 240 would be super cool, but if you can't make that work because of the lack of title, go with the camry becuase we all know Toyota's are super reliable

^^ Yah Im sure the guy will give whoever the run around.... A car thats prolly not his his brothers sisters mother who lived there for a month impossible to get a title type of story..... good luck getting a car like that registered in any state to drive without the title.

Depending on the VIN you can get a title issued for it with a bill of sale.

As long as the car isn't stolen you can take it to have the VIN verified and a title issued.

As long as the car isn't stolen.

VikingJZ

Yeah I have dealt with the BMV before over lost/stolen titles and its not fun or pretty.

For instance, if you want a car with a salvage title you have to have State Baconator come take a look at your car and deem it road worthy.

Lost titles are a bitch. I would pass. If you can't keep track of a title, you shouldn't be selling a car to anyone but the junk yard or keeping it as an off road racing vehicle.

Go with that Fiat. You'll regret it if you don't.

There's one that needs a fuel pump for sale about an hour north of Detroit. Rusty but looks decent.

Thats about four hours from hurr.

well not necessarily, you would have to have ID that the title would have to match your name / address.... if you do not it will not work... otherwise you will have to get power of attorney from the person who is on the title.....

Actually, can I change my vote? I think the camry would be a really comfortable daily driver...the 240, you would more than likely start fucking around with and you would need another daily driver. Bringing your car total up to 4.

I kind of dug the first gen they imported from Germany way back when ('70's....) 2nd gen, meh - why pay more for a gussied up Mustang ??? Third gen, well....I won't go there.

Actually, I think the first gen MR2s owe a lot to the X19 for inspiration ..... fun lil mid/rear-engine/drive sportscar at an affordable price. Those days are long gone, it seems ... :(

That is one way of doing it, as I have actually had to go that route.

However when I was doing that, if it hadn't worked, I would have had to go get the VIN verified by a car dealer and then fill out a massive amount of paperwork along with having proof that any liens against the car had been satisfied. I got about half way through all of that before the DMV told me I could just go get power of attorney from the last registered owner (who was in jail) to get the title issue resolved.

yes I see what your saying... but, this process could take months!

and then paperwork could be rejected from wherever, it would be a huge pita!

But reguardless a DD vehicle to me is a vehicle you can buy and drive everyday without putting any money into..... lets see here.....
Fiat has a blown hg
S13 has no title
Camry is titled, turn key , 30ish mpg , 5 speed roomy , comfortable , 5sfe reliability......

Its waaayyyy too easy of a choice here I dont know why anyone would want the fiat / S13.

No love for the AMC, eh?

I'll see what happens. I may wait another month for some moar monies.

I still really want a Cressida the most, but i can't comfortably spend the money right now to get a nice one. (like what murg sent me)

VikingJZ
09-08-2008, 01:49 PM
You want an SC? Indy Craigslist. There's one for two grand that needs minor work. AC doesn't work and the power steering doesn't work. Its either the relay for it or the pump is straight shot.

ciento44
09-08-2008, 02:20 PM
I kindof want something i can VIP out....

Or is just baller.

I'll check out that SC, see how desperate he is to get rid of it. I would love one.

If i don't get this Fiat, then i'll continue my search for an SC or a Cressida.

Fuelish hit it on the button with the Fiat, though. :) Who cares about reliability in a car as simple as that? Can probably fix anything on it with a screwdriver and a wrench.

.... as I pointed out in my post ..... " reliability (and " responsible adult-ness" of said choice) be damned " Surely, if I was considering reliability/"responsible adult-ness" , the Camry 5 spd is hands down winner. I almost bought a 5 spd Camry coupe when I bought my '92 vert ........ I almost wish I did, as I would prefer the manual tranny, but the a/c on the Camry was toast - a/c still works flawlessly on my vert

VikingJZ

Trust me. You will be happy with the SC. I wasn't sure if I would like having one before I bought it, but after driving it its so well built.

The interior is easy to disassemble when needed, very luxurious still, and the best part is all of the compatability with Supra parts (Seats, full suspension swaps, full brake system swaps, engine, etc.)

LS is nice but the interior really kills it on the old ones. You have to get a second gen to look good inside.

Its all up to you mang.
