i never done a timed drag race but i know 90% of people do or have, so what kind of times do you all see or have seen when running the strip??

i know that i can easily run 12's as i can spank my friend who runs 13 dead but i dont like launching the clutch . :( kills the clutch or drivetrain so im boring on drags, i keep it on the track. lol

but yeah, what times and what engines have you got etc?

High 18's @ 1 mile above sea level. :woot: :hehe:

1 mile!!?? wow thats high isnt it? my geography sucks ass. lol

and i love your quote in the sig, im driving at silverstone this sunday, and i said to my mate whos passenger " i cant wait to give it 7k past the pit wall in 2nd" save the world or hear a blitz nur spec at 7k... its a tough one. lol

Yeah, he said that last week in a post about emission controls. I felt it summed up my feelings as well.

As for the altitude, I guess it is high compared to the British Isles... :) Because of the thinner air it tends to drop ET's by a second on average. So I'd be running high 17's at sea level. So it isn't that high, I'm just that slow! :D

quicker than me..... i have never run a timed run so you are officially quicker than an st205. lol :)

what kind of power does it have?

Best time I ever ran was a 10.91 in the quarter. Never backed it up though, I could turn in 11.20s all day though.

This was in a `75 Camaro with a built SBC and a 250 plate on it.

I have never run either of my Celicas.

Never dyno'd her. Stock for a 3S-FE is 115hp at the crank. Add my minor mods, subtract 220,000 miles, and I'm lucky if I get 95hp at the wheels. The stock 13's don't help me hook her up, either.

But who cares! It's just great to be able to punch it without having to look over my shoulder for police. :hehe: My end goal is to see if I can build a 3S-FE to run in the mid-to-high 15's up here, but for now I'm just running the hell out of the original motor.

mate, 220,000!?? thats what i wanted to hear, jesus, how reliable are toyota! lol

tbh mate, mine has done 90k and got dyno'd at 84k, and it made the 304bhp.
i just change the oil every 3 k and check it over every week to make sure its all in tip top shape and it should (touch wood) go on forever.lol

but i fully expect that when it does go pop, il just rebuild the bugger! or i might try get a beams block and drop that in with my current parts. but then they are rare as rocking horse poo over here. :(

Rocking Horse Poo...

I like that.

For the record Chaos has 220k on her and Mudhoney has 220k on her as well. Toyotas are known for being rock solid. At least they were known for it. Some of their newer cars are debatable.

13.2 @ 98 in my 1983 Camaro Z28
11.8xx @ ~120 in my 1987 CRX Si
15.9xx @ 88 in my 1993 Celica GT

I've had a bunch others, but these are what i'm actually half proud of...

ran a 14 in a much worn out 2nd gen 3sgte mr2 with minor mods (greddy intercooler and open exhaust basically, at 15PSI). Worn out as in.. had trouble shifting into second, third, sometimes fourth and a month or so after the 1/4 strip developed what I think was rod knock. Even so it could have gotten into the 13s if the tranny had behaved long enough.

94 2nd gen swapped celica went 14.30s at best stock interwarmer :(
91 mr2 went 13.60s with a boost controller/exhaust

if i can get my mates skyline back together tomorow before trax it shall be going round silverston with me, if not, i am making him do a 1/4 mile at jap show finale as i want to see what times he can run.

its the one in my nurburg post, the head has been removed sent for skimming is back and waiting to go back together... however when we took the head off we found that the pistons arnt the right size..... its a bloody rb25 block with forged internals and not the rb20! so we had the wrong head gasket, awaiting new gasket tomorow.... then the engine must go back together before sunday.... should be all good!!

Well, if you must ask, I ran a 14.7 @ 95mph in a stock 2001 celica gts 6speed. :burn:

I ran a 13.3 @ 102mph in my alltrac at 12psi on my old setup. I'm running 17psi now and should be in the 12's since I ran a 7.8 @ 84 mph in the 1/8th mile recently. I need to make a trip to a 1/4 mile track.

Is your interior in your car? Full weight? I'm just trying to somehow guage what i should be doing in a 2400lb celica with a Gen3. I know there's not much correlation between the two, but it seems to take Honda hatches about 260-280whp depending on turbo to hit 12s, so i think besides gearing, i'd be closer to compare to them.

I have just about all the interior in my car. I haven't put my glove box back in yet, and two of the rear panels.. but that's like less than ten pounds. I removed a lot of the unnecessary crap from the car like a/c, cruise, abs, etc. I also don't have exhaust on the car yet (running open downpipe). I need to weigh my car, but I'm hoping that it's under 3,000 lbs without me in it.

Well, I took my first trip to the dragstrip Friday night, stock JDM engine, tranny, and ECU.
First run, 1/4: 17.4 @ 78.4mph, 1/8: 11.2 @ 65mph, 1.23 reaction
Second run, 1/4: 17.2 @78.8mph, 1/8: 11 @ 64.7mph, 1.03 reaction
At least I now know where the car stands stock, it's one of my daily drivers so I'm not going all out race setup with it, but I will be doing some stuff here and there, (of course that's what everybody says when they start out).

Yikes dude.... i think you've got an issue or two there.... Stock AllTrac w/ USDM motor should be running mid/low 15s.

Reaction time doesn't have anything to do with the time, so it's not coming out of that.

Ya really, my wife ran 17s in a 6th gen with bad tires. Something is up with that alltrac.

I ran low 16s, with a best of a 15.9xx in my stock 93 GT....

Nightfire, make another thread and tell us how you're driving that car, how much boost you're hitting etc. :)

I don't really know how much boost I'm hitting, I only have hte stock boost guage and don't really understand how to read it, (I know, damn noobies). All I know is that I pretty much ran 1st, 2nd, and 3rd close to redline, and crossed the finish line before 4th was at redline.

At your trap speeds, i don't even think you should be in 4th when you cross.

To put this in perspective, my highest trap with my 5sfe-powered 93 GT was an 87mph, and i was down a buttload of HP, Torque, and the gearing didn't help that car one bit, either.

Grab yourself a cheap boost guage and see what you're hitting.

:woot: So if we adjust for altitude I'm only 6/10th's slower than an All-Trac! :hehe:

Yeah, that puppy should be running a lot quicker.
