well i got the celica 3 years ago on my 20th birthday and its been a great 3 years so far!

how it started, the next day... down the road for the very first photo in my ownership..

however as much as i thought i could resist the temptation was too much and the modifying began...

the engine standard.... pah, that cant be like that! but for now... it stayed that way, just a browning radiator was replaced for new.

the modifying carried on though, the exhaust for me just wasnt loud enough and i knew the flexi section of the toyota exhaust was very restrictive... so along came this...

however i then wanted more power!
the next step was for me to install my apexi power intake that i purchased..

but in the quest for more power my next step was a Blitz DSBC ... where to fit it, well there was only one place i wanted it..

the car was then dynod and in Banzai magazine rolling road feature..

304bhp @ 1bar.... not enough , the car wouldnt hold 1.2 bar and after 4 runs consisting of 2 @ 301 and 301.9 the last 2 were 303 and 303.7, however to my annoyance and the rolling road operator the car could do far more, only running 1 bar and a AFR showed around a nigh on 10:1 fuel ratio!
so much fuel, i just need to lean it out abit with more boost!!!

but in saying that, 304 wasnt a bad result and for money spent it was ok, and in all honesty, bloody quick!

then my first stint at donington park occured.... this was where i realised just how wrong i was about my car "only" having 304bhp...

the gt4 proved to me just how quick it was.. by decimating an BMW M3 CSL down the pit straight, much to the annoyance of the other driver.

however the engine needed tyding up for me, so i took the heatshield off..

then the Toyota Sprint Series happend

and then the real work began, since the wastegate is so small on the ct20, when a straight thru 3" system is added, massive boost creep occurs. :(

so the next mission was clear, the car would be used on track.... alot in the future,in this case it would be ran at 1.2 bar all day long... and the charge cooler setup just cannot cope with this level of sustained and prolonged boost... a fmic conversion was needed.

after 8 weeks my new Forge tube and fin FMIC turned up, 780mm x 320mm x 80mm

and the rest is history.. multiple track days have ensued, the nurburg has past and i now have no boost creep and a steady 1.2 bar boost all the way to 7k rpm...

so far..... so good. thanks for watching! lol

I've always wanted an St205. Instead I bought an MR2. In any case, id love to take the 2 on some of the tracks you've been to. Wow.

where about do you live mate?

my dad has an mr2, non turbo though but its quite good fun! :)

but i love the gt4 more than owt, i test drove a supra tt and the gt4's when i was 19 and i drove both and for some reason, i just thought... the supra isnt as much as id hoped it to be, where the gt4 was 10 x's the car i thought it would be so hence i ended up getting it.

the fmic that we have done, i beleive it to be the only one in the uk to have that size ic with the outlets on the sides and to retain the fog lights, p/s cooler and transmission coolers all in their original mounting locations, other than alot of designing nothing has been added, no holes for bolts.

we did have to bore through some parts but rebuilt them after but i think it looks quite standard when looking at it, it doesnt look out of place i dont think.


as for the tracks, no doubht in my mind every person on the planet should try and drive the nurburgring at least once in their lifetime as it is phenominal.

are there no good tracks near you?

when we where starting the FMIC conversion alex and i had one plan in mind, it had to look like it came out the factory with a fmic on already, therefore all original parts would stay on the car and in their proper mounting locations, this came in the form of many hours designing as there isnt much room with all that ic and the coolers..... there is about 1mm clearance between the p/s cooler and the bumper grill!!! lol

but many hours of work, time and effort and we came out with the finished product and acheived what we set out to do which was always going to be nice as i had so many people tell me that it couldnt be done and the only way to retain even the fog lights was apparently to have an ic with outlets at the bottom.... now this to me is asking for trouble, there are huge speed bumps in england and i wanted to take no risks of damagine the core or pipework, the core alone cost 400 . :( lol

so the task was set and the chalenge was on, multiple mods to the bumper bars and foglight bar and a few custom brakets later and the fmic was in, much to the dismay of alot of people. lol but hey, challenges are there to be set!

but my main task was the "factory" look but lightning efficiency and speed, it seems so far (touch wood) to be working! lol

A couple of questions. What kind of paint did you use on the heat shield? It looks good.
2) Why is your downpipe got studs coming out of it for the lambda sensor? Did you change something so you can use different sensors?
3) What oxygen sensor are you using?

yes that is the o2 sensor, the bottom bung is for a secondary wideband o2 sensor or an exhaust gas temp probe.

the sensor is the standard one that was in original cat


the paint on the heatshield can be done with any VHT paint mate, so long as the temp of the paint can withstand at least 600-700 degrees celcius you are laughing.

Interesting. I have not seen a 205 sensor that uses studs instead of bolts.

Thanks for the info. My heat shield has a couple of ugly spots so I might do the VHT too.

yeah no special sensor mate, just the standard one.

lol, yeah i dont know why they never imported them, its strange but i know they didnt realy make massive and massive amounts, alot of them are here in the uk, yet its very rare i see any on a daily basis, not even weekly realy. which is nice as i like it being something special rather than an impreza or evo which over here are 10 to the dozen and nobody blinks an eye at them.

Dale, I live in Eastern Canada. We have 2 drag strips (one of which actually goes uphill at the end...ugh), and one track. Albiet, all of these courses are 2 hours in either direction so its a big event when we go there.

i tell ya, shame you dont have lots of tracks, there was a gen 7 at donington when i went, it was actually realy good around donington park!

quite like the blitz supercharger for the gen 7, it sounds awesome!

Yeah, stock the Mr2 dissapointed me in terms of handling. I felt more natural whipping the 7gen into a turn at a higher speed, where the Mr2 felt more of a boat.

However, we do have ALOT of twisty turny roads, that while fun, are dangerously surrounded by woodlands that are home to moose and deer, and other smaller animals. That and the pigs (haha).

If someone travelled out your way and wanted to try out the ring, do they rent cars to people to take around the track? :o

well the ring was a 500 mile trip from me so youd need to get to germany first! lol

but yeah ,there is loads of places around Nurburg that will rent cars out, ring-racers i think is one, they had

Ford focus RS
suzuki swift
Bmw's
Alfa's

etc etc, and they are all track prepped, totally stripped out, roll caged, tuned the lot, most running on toyo R888 tyres or other equivalent tyres.

some of the hiring companies require the drive to be 25 or over though. :(

Well i deleted my cardomain as i had closeups but no i do not currently....i will prob this weekend after i wash and wax it again for a photoshoot. They are 18x8 Motegi DPK's. They look sweet on this ride although i wish i got the rears custom offseted. BUt still looks great!

whats the pcd and offset on a 185??? i woldnt mind seing what they look like on my 205!

The offset is +40mm on my wheels. The rears i wanted to go with a deeper dish lip but didn't as it was expensive to get done. I do not know the offset on the st185 but these fit with no prob.

just wondering as it is rather hard to get hold of 17" wheels that fit over the st205 front calipers :(
