ok, my dad hasa 1992 celica gt with an auto tranny. he was wondering about putting slick 50 automatic tranny treatment in his car...opinions?

I've used it, seems to work well enough. I always use Slick 50 every 50k on my engine.

I've read that it can actually be harmful because the Teflon (a solid) in Slick 50 isn't actually bonded to the surfaces, and as a result, behaves more like very fine sand than the slippery stuff on our cookwear...

I say a good flush, tranny filter change and a quality ATF will be plenty to ensure long service.

Well, I've seen the discouraging data on their engine oil additives, BUT...

Lucas Transmission Fix has been holding the hatchback's tranny together for about four years now. Love the stuff.

However, as the old saying goes, if it ain't broke don't fix it. I wouldn't add anything that thick to the auto tranny if it wasn't having problems to begin with. That includes Lucas and Slick 50. Hobbie's suggestion is a good one if your father isn't experiencing any problems.
