So I needed a car to drive about until the supra gets over this long illness. Found an 88 alltrac pretty close by with a good body and what should be a good drivetrain (within 2k miles had a bunch of routine maintenance done, tbelt etc. in addition to axles and rebuilding tranny). Body has 141kish, motor is JDM swap in so who knows on that mileage. Offered $2300 which they accepted and going to pick it up on the 14th.

I know what you're thinking.. alltrac as a daily?? Well, it should be a better daily than a 400HP 7MGTE. :hehe:

I'm looking into shipping an ST165 from Florida out here.... pretty much a rolling shell. Needs drivetrain.

But the price is right. Like.... $250.

We'll see.

Congrats T-Spoon. pics ASAP.

Yar, I've got some pics he sent me that I can post and of course will take my own when I get it. As far as problems with it, AFAIK all the guy knows of is needing a front wheel bearing and a scratch or two on the paint. Supposed to be rust free etc.

Heh, yep. I'm hoping it's good in person. I'll get to really check for rust since I'm bringing a set of wheels/tires with me to throw on before I drive it home. The stock wheels have studded tires which I don't want to drive around on before needed.

Looks like the tires aren't on the right side of the car.

Meh, doesn't matter, they're coming off when I go to pick it up since those are teh studded ice/snow tires.

Snow tires make good rally tires, keep that in mind.

why not use the yaris for dd? good find for a clean st165 but might be costly to dd and maintain.

The Yaris is a DD, but it has been pulling double-duty for both my wife and myself. Not only is it wearing me out to take her to work at 630 AM and not get off work till 830, it's also putting a lot of extra miles driving back and forth since I have to take her the car at lunch time to swap so she can pick me up at 8 (wheeeee). The reduction in driving may or may not actually lower the amount of gas we use, but at least maybe I'll be less beat all the time :hehe:

Engine is a Yamaha Design. Almost all of the Toyota higher HP engines are Yamaha builds or designs.

Spoony, VERY nice score!:wiggle:

Sweet! You should bring that beast over to Spokane and have a slumber party at my apartment! We have spare bedroom...:) Then we can find some roads to rally that bitch on.
