the started to think well if im goin this far into it i mite aswell paint it..

but i think im gunna like blacked out for a awhile..

so question...
how long will the primer hold up and and still be good to paint over if i decide later to paint it...???

I'd like to see where you started.

Primer shouldn't stay on the car for a long time before you paint it. It might start flaking and having obvious adhesion issues, but it's not an enamel so there is a good possibility of the prime absorbing contaminates into itself. The only way to really get in and clean out primer that way would be turpentine and that defeats the purpose because it will take off the primer. If you're going DIY the whole way, just prime then paint.

If you want flat hot rod black, get a can of rustoleum satin or flat black. have at it with a firm foam roller. Paint sand repeat. Then when you're done give it a nice detail.

What color are you planning to paint it?

i have a DA sander..
had a mix of 120 and 150..
then went over with 220.
then wet sanded it with 2000..
