i never added the total cost.. i have hks 272 intake and exhaust cams, valve springs, port match head and worked valves. customs intake manifold, gt40 garrette turbo with tial wastegate. custom oil feed and return, wolfkats top fuel feed kit, ross pistons, eagle rods, balanced and bulprinted with acl bearings. new toyota alternator water pump oil pump gasket kit all water hoses, coil over plug set up, pana vac setup, oil relocation kit , ac delete kit, 78 mm throttle body, new tensioners and timing belt kit, 500 dollars for a plumbing from earls just on the engine, and a meth kit, dual stage hks boost unit, edelbrock quikdata and i still need a 1 grand on fuel system 1grand on standalone and $1700 on hks twin disk clutch and the e153 tranny ... and i also have spent $1500 on suspension, $2000 on a cage and $2000 on electronics $1500 on wheels and tire, $200 on racing seat and $200 on a 6 point cage and this isnt counting the cost of the car and the cost on the engine i bought (3sgte) so i guess on top of my head iv spent over 5gs on my engine and over 15000 on my car

5k will get you a 500whp 3sgte... you just have to do it the right way, and not waste money on stupid crap that gives you 3hp.

Just built the bottom end, throw a big turbo on that, and crank away.

i think it'd be stupid of you to sell all of that bro. these cars arent like domestics, your not going to get your money back. all you can do is spend the next year parting out all your shit piece by piece. people who put this much money into these cars are loyal toyota owners. the cars are rare (alltrac/mr2) and thats what makes them so unique. id keep it, and finish the build. ive been waiting 2 years to see my mr2 done in the 450whp range and to be honest i'll prolly be waiting another 2. but im ok with that because i know that when im done it'll be well worth the wait.

I agree with ricksta on this one. I personally only want a beams swap but am will to wait to get what I want. You seem to have a decent setup going on if it is tuned correctly. Keep it and finish it .

Umm.. you forgot to factor in the fuel system, EMS, a clutch that will hold 500hp, and ignition. Stock ignition will crap out pretty fast at that power level. Not to mention you need proper intercooling, wideband, etc. There's a lot more to it than building the bottom end and throwing a big turbo on it.

My build is pretty much bare essentials so I know how much it costs.

Beautiful car. I wouldn't see the other one unless you're just completely bored with Celicas.

Also, why sell it? Honestly with the amount of work you've put in, you'll be either taking a big loss, or sitting on it. May as well wait it out and use it for the reason you built it bro. :)

The problem with these builds is that they usually take 1-2+ years to finish or much longer. After a while, you lose interest and would just rather have a running car to enjoy.

If you honestly don't have the motivation and drive the finish it. I don't see why you'd waste anymore money into the project. Cut your losses now and sell. If you think you'll be happy with the remaining 4-5 grand to finish it, then finish it and enjoy.

As far as selling the engine. If it's never been ran, add the cost of parts alone...not including machine work, and you may be able to find a buyer for it if you're willing to sit on it until that buyer comes along.
