Yes, a turbo! And before i start, guys...I do really want a 3SGTE, but being in college, its not going to happen anytime soon. So i went the 5SFTE route. I got everything in order and just waiting for a few things (Bigger injectors then my MKIII's, CMS' eManage, clutch on the way) and then i should be good. I'm thinking i will slowly turn it into a 5sgte, MAYBE. I feel that my S54 trans' gears are too short, AND its seen better days. Thinking of a E153. Ciento and his buddy are gunna help my slap this biotch on.
The one thing that pisses me off, is that a small peice of my turbo shaft is chipped off. And there is nearly zero shaft play.http://img374.imageshack.us/img374/6666/img00440qo9.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

I'll let ya guys know when i get stuff done. I will update or make a pictures feast. And hopefully find a place to hop onto a dyno.

Wish the 2 good luck and not going "POP" :D

Cool dude, just keep the boost low. BTW, you need the snorkels.

Good luck! Hope there isn't a balance issue with that turbo.

Thanks guys!
Geebes, NOPE. I can't stand those things, they throw the lines of the body off and look silly.
GT4rc, Ya me too. :( If so, i guess ill buy a new 26 or rebuild it.

dont forget to do something with your timing. my friend did that to his 2 and popped his 5s in 30 min from detonation. my 5sfte however never popped. but i wanted to go faster so i got that 3sgte son.

Yea i got a MSD BTM for that, although i do REALLY want a 3s. i think this might be just a temporary thing. Im not sure though.

good luck and keep it safe, it would be a tragedy to put that Mr. Two in the dead in the driveway category....
G/L and god speed,

dude, im gone for a little bit and now this?! :wiggle: Goodluck tho with everything. Unless you got everything at a dirt cheap price, the money you spend on doing a "soundproof" 5s is right around the area for a 3sgte swap. Just letting ya know. And, AND! I have a 3sgte in my garage that is doing nothing but collecting dust. I could'a let you take that off my hands for cheap, but Ciento might want it. Let me know if theres anything I can do from my end to help you out with your project. :)

wtf just swap a 3sgteeeee

Just kidding, good luck with the project. Let us know how it turns out, I'd be very interested. Any idea how much this will end up running you?

Sounds fun, Cav!

Just thinking out loud here... and I think the project makes sense too. I mean, taking a non turbo engine and turboing it has its own merits. But my whole thing is, if you can't do a 3SGTE because you're going to college, I have trouble understanding why a turbo'd 5SFE would be any more feasible.

And I would worry about my car blowing up while I'm a penniless college student (though that may not be your situation).

I agree with what your saying, but i cannot swap an MR2 to 3sgte myself, and sure cannot pay to have someone do it, even if i can, you know anywhere in spfld that will do it? haha

This'll be fine buddy. Just don't go overboard on the boost on stock bottom end.

And if you do? Who cares. Blow it up, we'll come out there and put another bottom end in there in a weekend.

Thats pretty much what I was thinking. Although a 3sgte swap maybe a tad bit more in price, its worth it for the peice of mind knowing its going to run fairly well. Remember too, the price to put together a 5sfte maybe cheaper than a 3sgte swap, but a 3s does not require the NECESSARY dyno time to make it run well like your 5sfte will.

Call me up if you want that 3s i got in my garage foo :burn:

You can always use the 5s to learn on. You will still be able to use the emanage and stuff once you swap over to the 3s.

BTW: Why are you using the MSD for timing? You can adjust it with the emanage as well. Or are you trying to super fine tune things?

If all else, you can maybe sell the MSD and use that $$ to repair the turbo.

yea i was wondering the same as well....i have a emanage ultimate just control timing with that.

but anyways good luck..i have a 5sfte as well running strong 30,000 miles after being turbo'd.. feel free to PM me if you have any questions

I dont need my BTM if i have an Emanage? Nice. Hey thanks, i may have a few here in the future.

That was the whole reason I went with the emanage. It had all the features I needed to tune on the 2nd gen 3s for my power goals. Timing, tvis control, adjust based on boost map, etc..

Since i have the 3rd gen now, I don't really need it as much. That, and I am to the point in my project where I no longer want any complicated systems. I am hooking up a boost controller and calling it a day. Plus, I need money more than I need the extra HP.
