Basically what I wrote in the thread topic...

My friend adjusted my timing, and ever since then, it's not only been a wee bit faster, but it also has a horrid misfire to it... I tried adjusting the distributor, but I can only find one bolt to the distributor, and there is definitely something more holding it there, is there another bolt? and if so, where is it?

There's the one on the side, and a second one underneath that you probably won't be able to see, but you can feel it. Same size bolt.

It's going to be pretty much straight down right underneath the #4 terminal.

How will the best way to adjust this without a light?

Adjust it down til the misfire goes away?

Or...

You can do it like that.... but i would do my best to grab a light. I believe you can rent them from Autozone.

I don't have anything like that around here, we have a Napa and Auto Value, and neither of those, at least here, don't rent stuff...

Is the distributor usually in the same spot for every Celica? Or does each vehicle have a specific place for the distributor to be?

It is different for every car.

You can time it by ear, it is not always the best way on a computer controlled car, since the ECU will also control the timing to a degree.

Just retard it till the misfire goes away if you don't have a timing light. You shouldn't have to turn it more than a 1/4 an inch to get it right.

this is gonna sound stupid, but which way is retarding the timing?

Isn't it down?

Couldn't tell you without a light.

Sorry.

From what I remember you only need to loosen one bolt to adjust it but it's been a while.

Pretty possible. I tend to crank down on both because i'm paranoid, though.

And i only have one bolt in mine.
