my head has a mild port and polish 5 angle valve job milled .040 down.
The flow bench #s are tested at 28".
I had about 7 hrs of port work done 4 on intake 3 on exhaust I don't know if thats decent or what plese give me your input.

this is my first 5s build and i don't know how they flow after head work. I just wanna know if I got decent gains.

i think the reasion no one has goten back to you yet is there isent much info on flow after porting a head, how ever there is a flow chart befor and after here (http://www.celicatech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30713&page=2&pp=25) about 1/2 way down

yeah I have found it and it seems to flow more around .300 to .500 my cams lift is .345

Who did the porting, and did they use a flow bench before and after to see the difference in numbers at various lifts?

local machine shop here did the port work.They didn't do it before but the did it after the valve job and 3hrs of port work after the additional port work I gain 18% on exhaust side @ .300

I crunched some numbers and based on what my knowledge I have summarized the net result of the porting in this image...

You should get a really big cam to take advantage of your port job. And you may experience some low rpm power loss from your low lift flow losses (compared to the stock figures for a stock head posted by hookecho) ... that is if we assume the flow benches are both calibrated to where we can uses his stock figures as a baseline for your porting.

I guess what we can learn from this (for people who will read this in the future) it is more cost effective to oversize the exhaust valve, port the exhaust side, mill the head down by 0.035" or so and leave the intake side completely stock...

My cam specs are 260/213@.050/.345 I dont know if they will work well with my port work.

yeah they will at 0.345 you stand to make 18% over a stock 5sfe head (depending on your supporting mods of course)... should be great :) ...

stock is about 180* duration, each additional 20* will bump your peak up by about 1000hp so at 213 you'll shift your peak power up by about 1000-1600 rpms. which is around the 6800 mark ?

It may be benefitial to actually chip your ecu up to the 7000 mark if that's true. Take full advantage of your cam and headwork ...

180? :eek: FYI, rev1 cams are about 204@0.050" and rev2 are 194/200(I/E)@0.050". Torque should shift right by 500-600rpms with the listed cams by my guestimate.

Greenmachine, you will probably have torque peaks close to the Webcam 294 grind, you have less duration but more lift. The extra lift may shift the peaks slightly more to the right so you will probably see peaks around 4200-4400 and 4700-4900rpms. By your description the porting sounds like it will work fine for the cams. The extra flow added to the exhaust side should add to the effectiveness of the exhaust cam in it's range and help you hold torque longer where the 5sfe usually falls off and the intake is already a good size. A raise in redline will help your straight line acceleration if you think your rod bolts are up to it. :) If you are used to a stock 5sfe then you will be pleasantly surprised by the difference in your new engine.

If stock is 200~ duration then yes this is about a 650rpm shift to the right, I agree with you. I just wasn't sure about the stock figure.

Exhaust: lift = 0.300" duration @.050" = 210 deg

Intake: lift = 0.319" duration @.050" = 194 deg
Exhaust: lift = 0.319" duration @.050" = 200 deg
