Anyone here tried the RED-TEK R12a* A/C conversion kits?
If so, would you recommend it or not?

*REDTEK R12a is not the same as R12

I have only tried the conversion kits you can get from your standard auto parts store, or Wal Mart, etc.

It worked on my 90 GT coupe. I figured for $34 it was worth a shot. I did that and only had to top off slightly a year later. It blew freaking 39 degrees out of the vents according to the meat thermo I stuck in there. It was crazy.

I don't know if you can get it in Caada but lok for a product called Freeze12. It is a replacement for R-12/Freon, so you don't have to convert, ony need to change a few fittings iirc.

I posted a topic on this several weeks ago also on this. What I did was I went to walmart and bought the r134a conversion kit. I forgot what it was called, but it was in a blue box and it came with a few cans and the proper conversion fittings.

I had my remaining r12 evacuated and threaded on the new fittings. Charged the cans into the system and that's it. It's cold and works well.

As for evacuating the r12, you can do it the illegal way by evacuating it yourself, or you can take it to a shop to properly recover the r12.
