like the title says, does anyone know just how much the 3SGTE weighs? i'm tired of hearing "alot" where's a freakin number already?

i know that the 1MZFE weighs about 400lbs *401 to be exact* and i hear that the 3SGTE is approximately the same weight. now does anyone know the actual weight of the 3SGTE or not?

Ask some of the boys over at www.alltrac.net
They're always taking them in and out; I'm sure one of them has weighed that sucker.

Arent we lolsssss

Motor I would say is around 350-400 avg, off my head I want to say that... e153 depending on 2wd or 4wd is a really heavy tranny due to the gearbox size... my 2wd e153 weighed around 120lbs.

ha.. ya, if only I could count now how many times i've removed the engine.

I would put the 3S-GTE without trans at about 400lbs. Thats complete long block with turbo and intake manifold.

ok, so i've been going through their search and still have come up with no real measured weight.

so far the best approximates have been roughly 180lbs for the tranny while others argue that it's 200+ and one stated that when ordering his engine+tranny combo that it was a 750lb shipment and knowing how the shipping biz goes, shipment weight is normally around 5-10% over what the actual weight of the product is I.E. product weight 25lbs, shipment weight of 28 or 30lbs.

that being said, the combo would weigh in roughly 700lbs and if the claim of an aprox 180lb tranny is true, then the engine would be just over 500lbs. though i think this is wrong and believe the E153 AWD tranny is heavier then 200lbs in order for the engine+accessories+turbo+intake to be approximately the same weight of that of the 1MZFE+accessories+intake.

450lb engine+250lb tranny?

My 3SGTE engine/AWD tranny combo with harness, MAF, ignitor, coil, front axels, 2 engine mounts..et al came with a bill of lading that stated 350 lbs but also said it was subject to correction.

well the thing about that is, I dont go to that site because mine is only a GT, not an alltrac. Another thing about that, us being a general celica forum should know that anyway. I would hope that a site about all celicas should be able to give that kind of info. Not to sound harsh or anything, but not everyone wants to jump over to a site that doesnt really deal with their car to find out info

i know it's gotta weigh alot more then that. my stock engine+trans in my xB weighs roughly that and that's dealing with a VERY light weight 1.5L and very small and eco based 5spd manual.

Especially since the trans weighs damn near 200lbs by itself...

Tell me about it! ^^^

I had to pull that bad boy and re-install it solo in front of my house. That was an experience that was entirely made of FAIL.

maybe it was 350 kilograms...that would be about 771 lbs

actually the bill of lading does not show a unit of measuremnt, it just says weight: 350

Depends on where the bill was written -- pretty much anywhere but the U.S. and it's kilograms.

Keep in mind that shipping weight typically includes the packing/crate.

Wouldn't it be around 5 for the motor itself if the 1mzfe is 4? I heard the 1M is 100 pounds lighter then the 3S due to being an aluminum block. Maybe im BS'ing this though.

450lb engine+250lb tranny?

From what I recall having a transmission shipped a few years ago it was total weight of 180-185lbs...I'd take off 5lbs for the pallet, wrap and straps and estimate the 3s AWD box to be 175-180lbs. No way it is over 200lbs for the gearbox...it is heavy...but not that heavy!

^^ my thoughts exactly, my 2wd shipped was 136lbs exactly, without all the pallet wrap etc..... so with the transfercase I could see around 175lbs-180tops.

i actually just found that the 1MZFE is just about 30lbs lighter then the 3SGTE which means the 3SGTE is approximately 430-435lbs. so if that 350kg unit measure would have been correct, the tranny would weigh over 300lbs which i highly doubt and wont believe when the supra's W154 heavy metal beast is just under 300lbs last i knew *guessing that is, i'm a small guy around a buck 30 and i have to drag that W tranny with alot of stress*.
