In the repair manual i have it says that you can access the thermostat housing without removing any other part (apart from disconnecting the hose). And i just can see that happenning, there is the alternator and the exhaust manifold in the way. I got a t-bar with universal joint to reach the bolts but they will not move, i need to get to them with a spanner.

So i was wondering if someone could give me any help as to how to remove those bolts and get to the housing.

Thank you.

(engine is a 3SGE)

Thermostat is typically on the lower radiator hose where it connects to teh block. Pull the hose and the 2 bolts that hold the neck to the block, and that's it. Never did it on a 3sge, but looks like ya may need to go from teh bottom (underneath the car).

No way you can go from underneath the car, you cant even see the housing. Im currently removing the alternator to get more access, i believe its the only way on the 3SGE.
