So, I want to powder coat the original OEM rims from the 91 GT-S. The center caps are some kind of plastic though and not aluminum like the rim. Does anyone know if that particular plastic can handle the 400 degree F that powder coating cures at? Will it melt or be fine? Or does anyone have an extra centercap laying around for me to try it?

I'm willing to bet that if it doesnt melt, it'll fry, and not come out well anyway

I'd bet this doesn't work well even if it can withstand the heat.

A lighter burns at about 450 so you can try it. :)

There is no conductivity in the centercap so there will be no electrostatic attraction. Even if it could stand the temp there would be no attraction unless there was a metal buck placed inside each centercap. Time to find a matching paint color. :D
