Well I should apologize for having posted tons of threads lately about very small things but I have been doing a complete rebuild and restoration of the car and am nearly complete so am making the crucial final tweaks. Now what i need this time is the opinion of some of you seasoned Celica owners and perhaps a lesson in Celica ettiquette.

I have kept the car almost completely stock. it is a 5sfe but completely rebuilt (mainly done with a friend to save money). The interior is in mint condition, like new (pictures of everything coming). I have put in leather seats (covers only but they look fantastic) and restored the original shine and luster of all the panels. The exterior is in very good condition also and I buffed down the paint to restore it to almost perfect condition.

It has a '92 bumper and I recently fabricated two small mesh grills for the two openings under the main part of the bumper (pictures coming soon). I used proper automotive expansion metal and sealed the edges with black weather stripping. It looks pretty damn professional and adds an edge to the car. I have new 5 spoke rims on it and nice wide tires and jdm corner lights and bumper lights are on the way. So all in all it will look great even if it's a bit feeble under the hood (CAI makes it sound decent).

So finally after the background onto my question........

I lost my hood emblem and have been looking on ebay for a replacement. For some reason though I have been drawn towards making an addition purchase....two TRD chrome emblems, one for the back (next to the GT label) and one to go in the corner of my custom grill. They are quite small and fairly low key but my question is.......is this just ricey and silly or will it in fact just finish off the car perfectly? $50 hangs in the balance..............

Well, it is the equivalent of a Civic swapping on a Type-R emblem, it's a claim to something that doesn't really exist.

I'll admit they do look nice. Have you thought about one or two of the classic Celica dragon emblems? They usually run for less than US$20 a piece.

Now that is why I come to celicatech. Brilliant post thanks. I love that celica dragon emblem (the first one you posted). I could legitimately post that on the car without being a liar which is a definite bonus. Plus it is pretty damn classy.

My hood ornament got stolen so I am looking to replace that also. There are two mounting holes, are they likely to be a universal distance apart to fit the mounting bolts for that latter dragon emblem you posted?

I am torn on that last one. It looks pretty damn nice but would it be better than the standard toyota logo. decisions....decisions. Of course to complicate matter I still haven't given up entirely on the whole trd emblem idea.

For the blue dragon, I'm not sure. My 1990 had no emblems, just lettering, so while I've been tempted I've not been willing to lose the clean debadged look on trunk and hood.

Even if the two posts don't match, you could always cut one post off and re-position it with glue.

I'm tempted to keep the badgeless look on the hood except for the two unsightly holes it currently has.

There's always patching...and then repainting.

Sure it did. Put it on.

TRD has been around since 1979.
