I am looking for a celica, but I am having a really hard time finding a gts that isn't completely thrashed within 200 miles of houston. I've driven to austin twice now to look at cars and both were mangled. Should I hold out and keep searching for a gts or should I just hook up a gt? I would appreciate any advice you guys can give me. I know the gts has better bore/stroke setup and head for turbo along with it's six speed, but would it be hard to make the gt just as quick? and is the six speed much better than the five? thanks for the help guys!

Hold out for the GT-S, you'll be glad you did. The 1zz is, well SLOW. And who doesnt like 6 speeds? :)

I would look for a gts as well. Or a 5th/6th gen. :p

GTS transmission sucks, i think Toyota decided to make the internals out of plastic. I would never own a GTS, replacing the transmission in 100k or so it ridiculous.

The transmission in my GTS has over 200k miles on it....

If you constantly shift at 8400rpms very quickly it is going to wear the synchros out no matter what transmission it is.

With the price of gas these days, I'd be happy with the GT, quite honestly.

GT more tourque for DD. GTS wideopen power. GT runs on regular. GTS runs on the expensive stuff. But having a GTS is pride in itself. Nothing like saying GTS!! and VVTL-i!! AS well as it powers a lotus! LOL

IF you drive/shift your GT-S economically, you will be fine. At the same time you will have that power on you if you ever are in need of it.

Yeah, I was gonna say...the 6-speed should be excellent on mpg esp on the freeway...do the GTS damnit!
