So, I have a 93 celica GT, liftback and I'm replacing the clutch. I ordered a clutch disc from Toyota and they apparently gave me the wrong one. The spline diameter is much too small for the input shaft on the transmission. The motor is a 5SFE and I'm assuming the transmission is an S54 (typical) NA tranny. Anyone know what the OEM part number is for the clutch disc? Someone verify I have an S54 transmission?

Thanks.

oh, so the input shafts are different between the two? the clutch toyota gave me was based on the description of the vehicle (93, celica, GT) not the tranny. The transmission works great though. I don't see how they are bad transmissions. Works great for my daily driving needs :)

Anyway, I had to give Toyota my VIN to get the right parts. Not sure why but the clutch disc spline and pressure plate is bigger than what they originally gave me. I wonder if that's for an S54 tranny....*shrugs* Sucks though. I'm losing my entire weekend to get this car back on the road

No the clutches are interchangeable from the S53/S54, as are the axles.

Dude, just call Aaron at Lithia toyota, or Todd at Fort Wayne Toyota and order your shizz through them. Theyll kill your local dealers prices, and theyll get you the right parts.

Aaron - (800) 888-6305
Todd - (260) 436-4657 ask for toyota parts, then ask for Todd.

Just tell them Luni told you to give them a call, whoever you go through. Theyre both great guys. I usually go through Todd, cause hes my man, and Ive been using him for years.

I've known my local dealer for several years now. Ever since I began pouring $$$ in my old 91, he's been chopping 15-20% off the price. I've compared prices with Aaron in the past and they are identical. Typically, I go through my dealer if I need parts the next day or if Aaron cant ship them. And I go to Aaron if my dealer says he cant source it.

But ya, I talked to Aaron. He wanted my VIN as well, but it's strange though, I wonder what tranny that disc is for.
