Too much Tokyo Drifting. Sucks to see super cars wrecked. Hope everyone was okay.

For those of you who have never driven a supercar, you can get into big trouble in a split second. It's kind of like riding a crotch rocket for the first time, but not quite as dangerous.

Back in my day, I drove a 0-to-60 in 5.4 secs Vette, 365 HP, 375 foot pounds of torque, with a 4-11 rear.

One night, during an illegal drag race on Sunrise Highway on Long Island, NY, my car started to fishtail coming out of the hole with my foot flat on the floor. The posi rear was grabbing and releasing, side-to-side, throwing the car into wider and wider fishtails.

I was a pretty good driver back then (defeated only twice in two years by cars that vastly out powered mine), but I could not get my foot off that gas pedal until my co-pilot screamed into my ear, telling me over and over to "LET OFF ON IT!"

When things move that quickly, it doesn't take long to get into big trouble. The supercar manufacturers have tried to reduce the risk to inexperienced drivers with traction control, launch control, and limiters, but it can still be like riding a rocket...

I've been in a decently bad wreck for the same reason, in my case it was a 450ish HP 93 supra and I was avoiding a geo that wasn't watching where it was going. Lots of power (esp. to the rear wheels) can get awfully squirrelly no matter how much technology you put into traction control, electronically controlled power distribution and whatever else you have.

^The Geo had lots of power? :)

I'd LOVE to find one of those in a junk yard.

Probably under lockdown in any of them

Huh? I wasn't racing, the retard in the Geo cut over into my lane on an elevated freeway ramp. So no, it didn't have a lot of power, it was a piece of garbage that I should have rammed off the road. Would have been a hell of a lot less of a loss than the supra being destroyed.

I have almost lost the SC a few times because of RWDness

I think the first part on one of those GTRs to go would be the GTR emblem itself.

Um... yeah...

Anyways, back to the pictures.

Looks like the crumple zones and the cabin rigidity is awesome on the new GT-R, look how the hood comes up and over and how the windshields are still in one piece!

Yes. From the A pillar back the car looks pristine.
