what is supposed to connect to the end of that part? when i went to go and start up my car all i heard was the the sucking and my rpms were jumping up and down rough idle. its on a 91 gts 5sfe.

well I cant tell exactly what that is based on the pics, but you deffinately have a vacuum leak, thats whats causing your odd idle. Could you get any better pics?

That's your A/C idle-up switch. The other end should be somewhere on the intake manifold.

i looked around for the hose but couldnt find it. i mean last time i drove it was yesterday then today i went out to start my car and it was like that? how could that happen?

You know what, I just went through all the 5S Vaccum diagrams and A/C system tech articles and couldn't find the other end. I'm just going to go see where mine goes, I'm sure it's a similar location. Give me a few, my dog won't let me out without walking her.

Sorry Tommy, bad news. Looks like I was having another in the string of "duh" moments I've had lately. Realized it as soon as I opened the hood.

The bottom of that switch is supposed to contain a spring-loaded valve that opens slightly to allow the idle to increase when the A/C in turned on. I don't know how, but yours apperently broke and blew out. You can cap it for now, but you're going to need a new switch. I wouldn't turn on the A/C until you get one either, it'll drag down the idle, possibly enough to stall the engine. If you have auto A/C I'd disconnect the compressor just in case.

looks like ill make a junkyard run tomorrow. and use it for now. untill i can buy a new one

good luck getting it fixed, I never would have guessed thats what it was, Im not that familiar with these cars lol nor do I really care about AC systems

i dont even use my ac thats why they invented the window.
