As in title, my air conditioning blows cold for several seconds, then dies and the light blinks after a few seconds. It was doing this last year, but then started working pretty solidly eventually before the end of the summer. My system is probably fairly messed up, wasn't even connected when I bought the car... redid some wiring and it works, but my work stopped there (besides recharging it).

Anyone able to recommend the most inexpensive route to getting this looked at/fixed? The thing's probably low on oil, but I don't know how to do that, and I've managed to get it recharged for very cheap when it's needed it.. minus the oil..

I was quoted over $800 to retrofit by some ripoff depot, which is definitely out of the question.... What should it cost to retrofit?

I believe if you're talking about converting your system from freon to the R34 formula, it shouldn't cost more than 200 bucks to do it. Correct me if i'm wrong, it's been a long time.
