well. i blew my head gasket on the way up to the dragon this year. it wasnt bad but i decided to upgrade a few things anyway. i had my head deck and checked for cracks. ordered a cometic hg, arp studs, new rod bearings, new piston rings, turbo kit from ko racing, 880cc injecters, speedsource fuel rail, line kit, fpr, asi 56mm radiator, 4" intake and some other things that arent going on right now.

edit for clarification: With my job being in an unstable industry it would be good to find something that still pays well and is in demand. This living everyday wondering when the airlines are all going to tank is giving me heartburn.

Not even funny Captain.

It's a more stable industry than mine was what I meant. I'm sure you've seen the rate airlines are going belly up. It's always in the back of my mind I may need something to fall back on. My step-dad is a high voltage electrical engineer, so at least I have a clue! I was thinking either that or HVAC and starting my own business. No joke intended. I'm seriously considering other industries.

Ok, GT3076 not a 3071.

Borinals is a 3071. Look at the inlet size. You can see why I was like WTF?!! That thing is HUGE compared to his.

You should be able to use the standard bearings if you do not remove any material from your crankshaft. But go ahead and get it checked out to be on the safe side.

I'm willing to sacrifice the 20g to beat you.. just remember that. lol

My alltrac should be under 3000lbs.

epic fail.... when i got my engine back from the machine shop they had striped it bare and put new freeze plugs in. what they didnt tell me was they had taken 2 coolent drains out and they didnt give them back to me with my block. i didnt notice they werent there till i had the trans on. and i saw the one in the back of the block near the hfh#3. well i didnt think to call the machine shop since i could get an oil drain plug cheaper than drive 1 1/2 hours the the machine shop. i took care of that and checked the bgb for anymore things they might have left out. everything else seemed to be fine until tonight. i had everything done except putting water in my radiator and then i was gonna crank it up. i put about a gallon in before it started pouring out of the transmisson bellhousing. i freaked out thinking my block was cracked. i checked the bgb and it said nothing about it and had no pictures of that part of the engine. i then checked my haynes manual on the 5sfe and found a picture of the trans side with i small hex plug in it. i was relieved that the block is ok but now i have to pull my motor again just to put a plug in that the machine shop forgot about. it really pissed me off...

heres a picture of my old dizzy. notice anything wrong here?

well, i worked all weekend and got the engine out, tranny off, plug in, tranny on and engine back in. then i spent the next 2 days hooking everything back up. i got it started on sunday and took it for a test drive. everything was a little lean so i enriched the whole map 20% because i needed to take it to the alignment shop. then i did 3 pulls in 2nd gear at 10psi to 5000 rpm. after that i went a parked it to let it idle down and dl the new map to the nemisis. i noticed the coolent temp was at 115*C. it was like wtf. i just replaced everything to fix this problem. the fan was running, no leaks, the cap was holding. i dont know what is wrong yet but im taking the thermostat out tomorrow. i got the car aligned today and it drove much straighter. i went out and did about 6 3rd gear pulls from 3k to 6.5k at 10 psi and the temp slowly went up with each pull. i stoped when it went over 100* and drove back to the house and it was 106* by the time i got there. even at idle it wont go down. i have both fans running and it doesnt seem to be loosing water. enough of the bad stuff. heres some pictures.

edit: i forgot to metion how awesome it is to hear your turbo still spinning a minute after you shut the car off. that is super hot.... :bigthumbu

well, i took the tstat out and left both the a/c fan and my rad fan running full time and it ran at a normal temp for about 15 mins while i boosted and it didnt go up when i stoped. i think i need more air through the radiator. the water pump is flowing like a motherfucker though. the water was moving so fast it was making a swirl around the cap opening. i dont know what else to do except to do dual fans in front of the radiator. who has the thinest 12" fans? i think spal has 2"

mine need some cleaning too. my poor car sat under a tree for 3 months. i had to wash and wax it for about 2 hours to get that stuff off.

Uh, hm, if that puller is all you have on the radiator I'd doubt it's enough. Check Flex-a-lite out. They may have a dual fan setup that could squeeze in between the rad and the turbo, or if you have room on the front you could mount them as pushers as you said.

We switched cars and reached an agreement that at the moment, my car is much faster. I think Ben's exhaust is holding him back a lot. That SSAC twin tip muffler is extremely restrictive.
