it has been done. that means its doable. i hope you have an st though since it would be a waste to put it in a gt/gts.

Do you have an ST or GT/GT-S? Thats the first step.

First and foremost what Celica do you have?

Only 5th and 6th Gen Celicas are capable of a bolt in (wiring exluded) swap.

And even then only in the ST trim level.

The 5th and 6th Gen Celicas came with two different engines (excluding the Alltrac.) The 4/7AFE and the 5SFE.

The ST had the 4/7AFE and the GT/GT-S had the 5SFE.

If you have an ST trim level Celica, then yes, the 4AGE swap has been documented several times. It is pretty common.

However, if you have a GT or GT-S Celica, you are in for a lot of work to get it to fit.

If you search (this topic popped up just a couple days ago) you will find a lot of info about this swap.

yeah man if you have the st trim then everything from a 20v should bolt right in place same mounts and everything. The only thing you would have to change is the wiring harness and the ECU which in most cases ive seen ppl give those away with the motor. Dont do it if you have a gt just because it would be worth it and the mounts arent the same. It will take time and money to get it to run on a GT modeled celi.

the only thing you have to do during the install is shave a little bit of the bottomside of the cam cover, otherwise it will catch on the pass side engine mount.

research and figure out what you want and go from there. There are 4 people on this site alone that have swapped 20v's and another person who has taken their time but knows enough to complete the swap if he wanted to.

SO yes it can be done and has been done and is super fun to do.
