Yeah... No.

Unless that GM motor blows up, of course. :)

Celica N/A motors are torquey little things, but that 5S will loose it on the high end unless you've opened up the head. What you've already done will help, but not enough.

The 3S-FE has less power stock than the 5S, but is slightly better at holding it on the top end. Still, I've beaten every car I've raced at the strip off the line, but loose it about halfway down the track.

According to Wikipedia, that camaro has 160hp. With the extra weight and the slushbox, I think it's feasible that you might win. But hey, I've been wrong before.

Give it a shot (legally), and let us know.

you will defineatly beat a v6 camaro. Back when i was dumb and street raced, i had my gt-s run against a auto v-6 camaro and zzzzzzmoked it. Lol, not really smoked it but beat em by about a car and a half.

But, dont street race. Its gay and people can die, do it on the track (man i thought id never say that)

Uh, depends on how high you're willing to go. He'll get you in the top end, but if I recall the V6 Camaros/Firebirds/Mustangs in the Mid 1990's weren't all that much faster off down the 1/4th than we are.

i say celica actually. unless you can't drive. the 3.8 camaros are horribly slow.

19celica90 id say u smoked it. a car and a half is quite a loss. i didnt know the specs on it. they only have 160 hp for a v6!? thats as bad as the Tiburon.... personaly i still think the camaro will win. more torque so it probably accelerates faster then you? and weight is a factor. but 20 hp is quite a big difference dont u guys think?

^True, 20hp is a bit. Just searched for the curb weight of that Camaro, and at least the 95 model weighs in at ~3250 lbs. A 90 GT coupe is supposed to be around ~2700 lbs, the hatch, IIRC, is ~2750 lbs. So the celica's at least 400 lbs lighter (depending on options and stuff I'm sure). I'm still guessing the lighter of the two cars would win in this case.

Meh

But I'd bet money I know which would win in an autox (w/ equal drivers) ;)

hmmm, im pretty sure the hatch weighs in more then 2750 lbs man. i was pretty sure it was in the 3,000 lb range.

There was a 160hp V-6 and a 200hp V-6, you wont beat the 200hp one.

^The wikipedia article I read earlier said that the 94 had the 160hp V6.

These weights (http://celicatech.com/forums/showpost.php?p=270592&postcount=17) were Toyota's claim, I believe. Shows the 90-91 LB as ~2700 lbs. I'm going to at least hope that those numbers are correct, because I don't want to think my car weighs 3000 lbs

Nope. MKII MR2 turbo weighs about 3k, celicas (minus verts and alltracs) are less. 3200 is pretty piggish for 160 HP. That's a lower power-weight ratio than stock alltracs.

I can laugh at V6 Shittaro's and Rustangs

I beat a v6 auto camaro by 14.7 cars in my stock gt-s. Seriously though, it should be close if your car is running well and you can operate it to its potential. At higher speeds, I see the camaro possibly pulling away.

One of my employees races his mostly stock '95 LT1 Z28 Camaro. His best time at Bandimere Speedway was actually 14.8! His only mods are a K&N intake and valve to open his exhaust right after the manifold.

Of course that's at a mile above sea level, he was running 13's when he took a trip to race in Oklahoma. But if you just look at the numbers you own him! :)
