What are minor problems?

What are minor problems?
Agreed, minor problems make a difference. I would just keep your 6gc, if i were you. How does it run? If worse comes to worse, just throw another 5sfe in it, or better yet, a 3SGTE :)

It depends, I would keep the car since you know what work was done to your car and what needs to be done.

a 90 gts with a 3sfe?!?

04-22-2008, 02:33 PM
I believe that could be one of the 'minor' problems :D

What are minor problems?

the minor problems with this 96 is that the interoir is royally f***ed water pump leaks and from sounds shot out and its stalls more then anything i have ever seen b4

a 90 gts with a 3sfe?!?
yea out of a 90 camry which blows more ass then anything else b/c i loose power and the f/a ratios are so far off and those are just the base problems i have noticed

but i found a 5sfe out of a 95 that i wanna swap just so i can save on gas and gian my power back atleast till i have enough till i can get a 3sgte which is my plan
1 question how well would that 95 5sfe drop into mine? any major work i would have to have done : like mounts or ecu change over or anything else?

Concidering the 5S was the original engine, there is no issue with the fit, but most. when they did the 3s (for what???) swap they probably swapped ecu, and possible the wiring hareness. Not too sure the differences in the harnesses. They may have modified the harness to work with the 3s which could mean have to change it back, or replace it, but like i said, dont know the differences in the wiring of the 2.

since the 90 celica has a 3sfe... yes... jus trade it .

04-24-2008, 12:02 AM
Fix the interior and other shit. I would not trade. Besides, sixth gens are secksay. :)

04-24-2008, 12:43 AM
keep the 6th gen and just get a fresher motor for it...

Wouldn't mind a 95 5sfe myself as long as teh trans is with it!

04-24-2008, 02:02 AM
so i should go ahead with the buying the 5sfe motor then
any difference in power between 90 5sfe and 95 5sfe i know i should know this but with work i havent really had time to look it up
and grayscale if i remember right the guy said that it would be 200 more for the tranny and motor making it 500 for both

On paper the rev 2(92-93) motor has 5 more hp. Just know that doing this will mean that you need a the wiring harness and ecu to be able to take advantage of the knock sensor. There may be a few other differences. The rev1 runs a tad bit richer than the rev2 so the ecu will make a dif there too.

I prefer the s54 trans from the 95, it's not as great for highway driving, but it's much better when shifting between 2nd and 3rd, they're much closer together than the s53. For me it's no question, I'd take the 5sfe with the s54 as long as I knew they were good to go. For $500 I would expect less than 150k miles, but there are exceptions.

hum so i most likely gonna have to replace the ecu and wires then?

04-26-2008, 06:53 PM
i have another question for interior not motor tho
do the seats and stearing wheel fit from a 95 fit on a 90 celi?

04-26-2008, 07:45 PM
any 1 have any pics of a 5sfe and a 3sfe ecu i can look at and maybe a location to find it im hoping i wont have to do any major wire work
