20v swap complete, incredible noise comes out of those jokers, its rivaling the turbine whine ive come to love. 8400 rpm is teh sexxor. I just upped it again today. Observe.

I've always wondered, How do you keep dirt out of the motor with out having any kind of filter??

Looks great though!!!! I would love to have a AE86, They are one of my favorite cars.

sex. :)

Yeah. I keep thinking about buying a new car, but everytime I take the car over 4200 and I hear the screaming, reminds me why I love the car so much again.

However, Im sure mine is not as loud as your's. So you are running a silvertop with blacktop electronics? Or standalone with MAP?

Are you ever going to respond to my pm?

silvertop with blacktop ecu. i didnt get to drive it much so i dont have an honest opinion of it yet. it drives like a 4ag just with more revs and more powa

Sweet. How much did those set you back? I'm really diggin that ride. I might have to trip on over to AL one of these days and get meself one of those.

i know...you can find them in your backyard around here and not even know it. i accedintly let a perfect celica supra get crushed and i could have bought it for 200$ i got my unmolested corolla gts for 800 and all it needed was a timing belt. there are more good old toyotas in my little town than i can buy. like kt's fj60 that would rock out with a 350 in it.

Lift > ITB's

Not even. Lift is the same as big cams. ITBs >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Lift.

ITB's are mostly for improving throttle response. A properly designed plenum will produce just as much, if not more power than ITB's. Also, bigger cams = more power.

ITBs will also flatten out your torque curve, who can tell me why? ;)

Ah, but it won't sound anywhere as good as the ITB's, they're magically delicious

Andy where did you order yours from, gonna be ordering mine in the next few weeks and have a few places to choose from. I saw a guy on club4ag that made a set that is interchangable between two different lengths just by screwing them in.

That's a good guess, but....

FAIL

;)

I'll give you a hint.. it's the same reason a very short (like a couple of inches) exhaust manifold venting into a very large area (equal or greater then ~10x a single cylinders displacement) will broaden your torque curve!

the answer is lower amplitude waves per valve event due to the total length of the intake being massively shorter

oh awesome!

It also depends on if your running short or long stacks. The short ones are better for high end and the long ones are better for low end. I would assume it's because the ITB's balance out the air flowing in by all being the same length of distance as opposed to an intake plenium where the first cylinder would be receiving the air before the others. Just like when the air is exiting the engine it leaves out of 1 cylinder before the others. Of course this is my guess so correct me if I'm wrong.

MrWOT

Well, i typed out a big long response explaining tuned length, but lost it due to a failure on the internets :s so suffice to say, yes, that's true, but only for a very narrow rpm range, usually about ~1500rpm will see benefit from tuned length ITBs

A lot more than what you'd get with a 4age.

Colossus20v

I doubt it as well. But whatever.

We would need flow charts to compare.

20v Blacktop ST

Other than the .2 liters of displacement, which would give it the few extra HP over the 20v, I don't see much difference between the engines rpm range. So why would it be more beneficial to the 2zz, I personally don't see how it would be able to create more power w/o upgraded cams and such. Whats the compression ratio of a 2zz?

Colossus20v
04-17-2008, 08:42 PM
11.5:1 I believe.

the benefits of the 2zzge is maybe the VVTL-i... ITB + VVTL-i = lot of air sucked in the engine with hi rev. I think it would be nice!
