View Full Version : I just found a 1993

04-03-2008, 05:52 PM
Non turbo 300z red on charcoal with a little over 190k miles. Slightly ripped seat, a few rust holes but decent shape. Shifts slightly hard but probably needs to have a fluid change. It has 18" MB motoring five spoke rims with Kuhmo extas that are low on tread but still streetable.

Non turbo automatic with t-tops and most power options. Looks like it has a custom exhaust too. Paint is good where there isn't rust. Needs to have the front lip tweaked for mounting and repainted.

I would say its in fair shape. Book value is over $3k

i wouldn't get it, for 3 thousand you can get another car with no probs and in good condition. Unless you really want a 300zx then this may be a good deal, but id take my 3thousand elsewhere

04-03-2008, 06:33 PM
300zx...meh. Heavy.

04-03-2008, 07:45 PM
I almost grabbed a few Z's before i got my new 240. I wanted a Z. Was looking heavy for some. found one with a gorgeous exterior and an interior that looked like a bear got in the car. came close to buying it for 3 grand. When I get my 240 back from the shop on sunday and put the new exhaust on it monday though, I will have a smile on my face again. This fucking taurus handles like a limp dick in a pool of velveeta cheese. I hate it.

Hold off on the 300zx is what i'm trying to say. N/A are nice and sexy, but you can;t just simply strap a turbo onto that setup. TT or bust mon frere.

04-03-2008, 07:53 PM
too many damn miles.....for extra grand you can find a nice 300zx

04-03-2008, 08:25 PM
for a few more grand you can find a decent project twin turbo.
I can't even imagine how much it would suck to drive an automatic Z.

Anyone who has ever bought a NA 300zx wishes they had bought a Turbo.
You can't just slap a turbo on these engines and call it a day.

EVERYTHING needs to be replaced besides the rear end to go turbo.
You actually want to keep the 4.10 gear since 1st gear is almost worthless with a turbo Z.

04-03-2008, 08:27 PM
Always wanted to get another 240Z, getting hard to find one without cancer :(

I found a pair of late 70's Zs. I haven't gone to look at them yet, but I am sure they would be a steal.

04-03-2008, 08:35 PM
your hard shifting issue wont come from nastey fluid, if anything slippage will. Make sure, if it has it which it probably does, that the kickdown cable is adjusted properly, because that will cause hard (and late) shifts. If this isnt the issue, than its probably a pressure regulator in which case, dont waste your money

04-03-2008, 09:00 PM
It's not for sale for $3000.....

I believe the actual price is significantly less than that.

That being said... you can get a lot more for lot less. (See sig.)

04-03-2008, 09:10 PM
Bad impulse buy, you'll be kicking yourself in the ass later. Even though I'm probably about to make an impulse buy in a couple hours :sneak:

04-03-2008, 09:47 PM
You need to come down to Texas and buy a car. You go from "a few rust holes" to "what is rust?" I always hated that when I lived in Iowa, cars that had Swiss cheese frames and quarter panels of rotten tissue paper.

04-03-2008, 11:19 PM
Wow totally didn' word that right.

The car is $800 OBO.

I don't want it for me to keep, I already have a (What i think) is a nice car.

I'm also picking up a 1992 Mustang LX 2.3L for $300 that some guy wants gone. Runs and drives really well just has rust...lolol

I'm going to fix the rust and make it look kind of cool (flat black hood with hood pins and black/silver rim combo) and sell it after I get done with it.) I'll actually put 5.0 badges on the side...hahaha.

Its a Mustang that meets CAFE standards and looks fast. I'm going to rice out a Mustang.

two things for you man....

1. Turbo Swap

2. Absolute money pit from hell

Get a manual twin turbo and fix it up for much cheaper than what your looking at now you'll enjoy the ride much more. Take it from me and midship we are Z fanatics

04-04-2008, 01:35 AM
I'd walk away. As people said, to get TT you have to swap everything. Pretty hard to reach 300 with the N/A motor. Also, the 90's models are incredibly bitchy to work on from what I've heard. There's absolutely no space, and on top of that you have Nissan's engineering. Just doesn't sound too fun to me, there's better projects to be had out there.

Never liked the owners much either, reading their forums, it seemed like they all had a case of small-penis and always had to make up for the Supra beating out the 300 in popularity. Though a good looking 300zx is beautiful, in either generations.

04-04-2008, 03:16 AM
I wouldnt consider it.

04-04-2008, 03:17 AM
Aaron, Why havent I heard about this mustang yet?? I'm suprised you didnt call me and tell me about it!!

04-04-2008, 04:01 AM
^Just called you.

Not doing the Nissan. Not worth my time. I wouldn't mind getting the rims from it though...oh well.

The Fox body should be fun

no. cause its an auto and its n/a. they are a dime a dozen. save the money and look for a TT if you want a Z. my friend has one and its really impressive for how old it is. 95 TT with ~70k i believe he got it for like $17k which is ridiculous, but still.

the mustang? eh... its rusty. remember, you always get what you pay for.

04-04-2008, 04:31 AM
^Thats not always true. I have had a lot of good deals.

Mr Celica
04-04-2008, 04:36 AM
but... its a mustang... for $300....

and don't bash me on hating fords, i drive a mazda. lol

rusty mustangs scare me. if you're planning on making a whole race car frame up sorta deal with a roll cage then yea get a car you can strip and don't mind doing body work on.

04-04-2008, 04:38 AM
Nooooooooooo YOu guys don't get it.

This is one of my "Hey check out this car I'm getting to FLIP"

I want to do minor repairs and sell the cars for profits.

04-04-2008, 06:27 AM
I hear you. Matter of fact I remember you doing this a time or two in the past. I think the Muffstain would be worth it. Not sure what you could get out of it up there, but they(the fox bodies) are still pretty popular down here.

04-04-2008, 02:27 PM
I'm all for the mustank....

But, i already told you what to do with it.

1) Ghetto fix the rust
2) Primer the whole car
3) Strip the interior
4) Put some meaty radials on the back
5) turbo the motor for the love of god and all that is holy
6) kill some 5.slows.
7) ??????
8) Profit!

04-04-2008, 03:02 PM

I don't have cash for that mang

04-04-2008, 03:52 PM
when ya going to look at it??

04-04-2008, 04:05 PM

I don't have cash for that mang

Dude.... junkyard. Spend like... $1000 on it in the next year. I'll come up and help you. We can make it fast on that budget.

04-04-2008, 04:55 PM
I don't want to spend any money on it....I want to sell it...lol.

I'm not allowed to keep any more cars.

Mr Celica
04-04-2008, 10:53 PM
crustang is a better bet, theres always an idiot lookin for one! :)

04-04-2008, 11:13 PM
^Fur sure

I figure I could get someone into buying it that wants a Mustang but doesn't want a V8 gas milage.
And that's how I'll advertise it.

Come on...I sold the biggest pile of shit 1987 Tercel that had GANGSTA spray painted on the side for $500 after paying $100 for it three days earlier...lolol.

This I'll keep for a little bit.

04-04-2008, 11:15 PM
Oh and its officially mine as of tomorrow provided it isn't THAT rusty. Doesn't look terrible from the pics but hey...it is a $350 car.

Guy told me that the scrap place would give him $100 for the cat alone.

I might explore that route and put in a test pipe.

There are like 30 Fox body RusDANG's at the junk yard ten minutes from me.

Looks like I can have some fun.

there's a V6 with a cowl hood....lmao

04-05-2008, 01:57 AM
there's a V6 with a cowl hood....lmao

To be fair, a lot of people here sport AT hoods with the 5sfe or 4afe.

04-05-2008, 07:55 AM
if you do get the 300 with the hard shifts, just tell them it has a shift kit :)
