Ok so ya...just bought an engine as a whole to replace mine (4AFE),.....and now for the story of my life...

Friday Night- Got home from work to find my uncle who had come up from where he lived to help me out, already dug in and tackled the unplugging of the harness and had all his air tools ready to go. From there we proceeded to then unbolt/screw anything and everything needed to take the thing out, then after a good 2-3 hours, finally out , then we called it a night.

Saturday- got up then got right to work, took the tranny off the old to put onto the new only to find my clutch was gone so we had to ride up to the store and get a clutch( luckily they had the one we needed in stock, and my uncle handled the cost for me...140 big ones!!!!), then came home put that right on along with the tranny, then time to drop 'er in. That portion went pretty well and after that my uncle proceeded to handle the wiring yet again..heh..(hey well i did plug in the 4 plugs that go to the computers inside the car heh..) anyway, after that was all said and done we went to turn it over so we could get the distributor in and what not, nothing.....come to find out, engine the 4afe was from, had an automatic tranny, so therefore we had no way of plugging it up to mine for it to see the park/neutral switch doo-hicky...luckily my uncle is smart with the car thing and jimmy rigged a plug and made it work( cool thing is now i dont need to push in the clutch to start my car....(i just see myself showing off that jimmy rig down the road and having it in gear and it jump like crazy and i look like a moron but thats another story in itself...) anyway, once we get it started my uncle does the timing and then i take it for a test run....AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!...havnt driven this thing in idk how long, felt so good to get it running again!!!...well, when taking the axles out and putting them back in, one of the seals broke so i also had to go buy one of those, no biggy only like 5-10 bucks for that...Uncle leaves to go back home but tells me dont go more than 2-3 days without gettin the leak fixed by putting in the seal...saturday gone....

Sunday- Didnt really do much except buy the seals...later that day attempted to put the seal in (only the right side leaking actually), after a bit of time got the old seal out and started to figure out how i was going to get this new seal in...stuck it on the axle and put the axle in but when the axle was in, only pushed seal a little less than half way in ...F@#$....ok well, i guess i gotta take it to the shop now...sunday done.

Monday- I call tranny shop to put in a seal, they said sure bring it in, i say ok, fill up trany with the rest of the gear oil that i have on my hands and take it around the block for a quick test, get back only dripping oil like once every 30 seconds instead of every second, so im like cool, that will get me to shop,...then start smelling things from under the hood so i open it, then i think wait, weve had our greasy hands on this thing all weekend long, its just the hot engine burning those oils im good....2 seconds later, a crack in the very top, very center shoots out fluid.....WTF!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?....160 friggin bucks later, new radiator...ok well glad thats done, new radiator that should last forever, now all i gotta do is get the seal put in,(time runs out, gotta wait til tues...

Today- Well today comes around and i have my car towed to the tranny shop first thing this morning, they call me a few hours later, ya well, ur axles are shot, thats why your seals are goind bad( wait a second, i think my seal was broken by a human being pulling the axle out, not the axle breaking the seal, no thanks im not going for axles there) so im like, uh nah just put the seal in for me and fill 'er up, rather buy new seal than axles right now (cant afford at the moment...), so go to pick it up at lunchtime with my fiancee, get it 10 bucks (only charged me for the gear oil they filled it up with..weird but i was like ok)all is giong well til i get to mcdonalds and take a look underneath only to find gear oil pouring from my tranny...WTF?!?!?! again....called them back and was like wtf is going on "o well uh , thats cuz you need new axles" no F6ck you, wasnt leaking like this when i had my original "broken" seal, so why would it leak like its pissing? ya w.e i hung up there, called my uncle and he like uh thats odd, they were working before and after we put in your "new" motor, call this place and yada yada....so i did, he said bring it in, luckily was able to get it to the place without hurting the tranny (i think) calls me back a bit later, ya we can do your seal for 115 which is labor/parts, so im like, w.e do it,( so obviously the dumbf^cks at the "transmission" place didnt even attempt to put the seal in cuz it wasnt on when AERSI checked it, may i remind you this is the same place my fiancee's mother went to get her oil change and the dumasses left her oil cap off under her hood....ya smart on my part for not remembering this and going there...anyway), he also said that i in fact do need new axles and there they would charge me like 700 or so for them and to put them in...called the uncle and he is working on getting me some instead of them...so thats where the !@#$!@$#@!% celi stands/sits w.e the fock its doin....going to pick it up tomorrow so theres another 115 like i said before...gonna drive on the axles i have for as long as i can....i mean, theyve been in there since ive owned the car and no problems, and im sure they are the same ones that were put on in the factory so i guess you could say its about time for new ones but w.e, i dont have the money for that right now so ya...sorry for the essay ....o ya almost forgot, i do need a little plastic piece for a vacuum hose to go on and then it will be finished...for now it as well is jimmy rigged...heh...yet again sorry for the essay..

So do your axles make any clicking noises while moving? If not then you need to tell all those guys to FoFF. As far as daily drivers go axles don't really need to be replaced until they start making noise. Although, the boots on your axles may be rotted or ripped allowing the grease to leak out, but the boots can be replaced by themselves. This is more than likely why they are telling you that you need new axles, it's easier to replace the whole thing.

Bummer, however, this is a job you should be able to handle yourself, or maybe with just a little help. I think I'd spit in some ones face if they told me they wanted $700 to replace my axles.

hah...ya 700 is kinda off the chart but i talked to the guy and he said they use this axle place down the road that makes axles for race cars and stuff like that so they are def the best of the best when it comes to axles, and that way he can warranty them and stuff like that...wish it was cheaper because these guys are really good and really nice people....but me and my uncle will most likely buy and put them in on our own to make it a whole cheaper process... i did pick it up yesterday tho and they said all i really needed was the drivers side axle replaced (the one making the clicking noise) and that my right side was ok......wait a second, i just got my right side seal replaced, and that was because the axles were so bad that they ruined my seal (even tho yet again it was a user error that called for the new one), thats why it busted and there would be no point in putting the seal in, bills low cost low intelligence POS shop is effin moronically retarded....sry, i needed to get that out heh.....i really wanna go back to that place now and be like, ya hey guys, im the person who came in yesterday and you told me that you couldnt even put a seal in because my axles were so bad..well go look over there and look under the car, do you see a leak anywhere? no, no you dont, thats because the seal is actually put in all the way by a shop who actually knows what they are doing and not just looked at with confusion by a shop who is sposed to be "Transmission specialists" and who know what to do....gah i still cant believe that....ok im done with my essays here...
