I can get a used 1995 steering rack for super cheap off of ebay right now.

Will it fit my 1992?
If so, is getting a used rack a bad idea?
anything else I should know?

Here's the link...

first of all whats wrong with your rack and pinion. they are not likely to break.
and if you want to find cheap get the yellow pages there are places that rebuild racks and axles and just about everything you can think of for decent prices.
as for your question i dont know.

I bought a new rack for my 90 GT from Advance (i know i know, but didn't feel like paying way more $$$$ to Toyota for one) for not much more than that used one from ebay.

Funny thing is, the control valve went on mine. It was cheaper to buy a whole new rack than just a new valve.

For what it's worth, that ebay rack looks the same as mine, doesn't mean it is exactly the same though, but it looks very similar if not the same.

Ok, thanks.

I looked up part #s for both and even though they look identical, the part #s dont match, so I'm probably going to get the one from advance.
