i was wondering if the stock pistons from a 3sgte would fit into a 5sfe????

i would THINK so, might mess with your CR a bit, not sure what teh design difference is

although im not sure if the 5s is bored, or stroked to 2.2L

.... so ya.... guess i didnt help much... and i need to go do some research on these motors.

I believe the wrist pin is in the wrong location for a the pistons to interchange without the rods.

Don't quote me on that.

Oh I had a stupid moment, the answer is NO, as the 5SFE and 3SG* have different valve angles.

Doesn't matter if they fit, the answer is no they don't work.

They'll fit alright, with about 1mm to spare :P 86mm vs. 87mm

Actually Korean Joey is correct the 3sgte is 86mm bore 86mm stroke and the 5sfe is 87 or 87.1 bore 90 or 90.9 stroke according to Mitchel on demand specs. The piston pin location is referred to as compression height the distance from pin centerline to piston crown. When I checked the specs there were different numbers between camry and celica not sure why sometimes Mitchel is wrong. I believe I had the same thought a 2.2 turbo would be cool.
