Tomorrows the big day!!! I cant wait. Been sorta waiting for this since last year! Me and my girl are making the trip up there tomorrow bright and early to spend the day in Chicago. This years show i believe will be alot better than some previous ones. The long awaited Nissan Skyline GT-R will be there  Plus cars like the Hyundai Genesis. This car i believe will be very interesting and i hope to get alot of information on it. And last in this years lineup that will make a new facia debut is the 2008 corolla. Its all redisigned and looks alot sportier. Reading up on the info and it has alot of improvements and power. One other thing that will be cool about this years show is that its the 100th year of the show in Chicago. What that means is that there will be cars on display that would of been there 100 years ago so like model T's and.....umm model t's? :lolhittin Well anywho, cant wait, i'll post up alot of pics tomorrow night or saturday to show all you guys!

Hey guys! Sorry it took so long for me to write back in this thread, but i was really busy this weekend and i couldnt get the time in to upload the pics from the auto show. Let me start out by first saying that i had a really good time, i got to see alot of new cars and ideas that each manufacturer are bringing out. This year's auto show seemed to be a lot more realistic. In the past, the auto shows had un-realistic cars that you and i know would never see a dealer lot. This year had alot of well thought out cars, or current cars with upgraded facias or engines.
Me and my girlfriend made our way into the show and right away went to the Toyota section(im biased). I was really surprised with what they had. Alot of turbo and superchared concepts. The corolla and matrix are totally redisigned. I have to say, i wouldnt mind cruisn in one if the turbo version comes out. But most likely wont. They had a really nice rally prototype corolla. Overall, Toyota seemed to be pushing their hybrids. They had a car on display that had a 3 gallon tank that got 400 miles. Really impressive, but again, probably wont see it on the market because they're is too much private interest in the oil market these days. (more on that in a lil bit)
We moved on to Honda to see what they had. Mostly the same cars that in in their current line-up were there. The accord is redisigned and i must say i really liked it. It has Acura TL rear lights and a very agressive front end, but at almost 30g's, id have to pass. Then, out of the corner of my eyes came the all new 2008 Nissan Skyline GT-R!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The skyline was actually the reason why i really wanted to go to this years show. It was beautiful. Featuring that beast 3.5 liter twin turbo full time awd setup.....yum yum yum. Only thing that sucks is that it will be automatic, and, 70,000 dollars. Although rumors are speculating that dealers may mark them up over 100K. In person the skyline was actually rather small. The magazines really make the car look long and wide. The interior is just enough, not to much crazy gauges to tell you "danger to manifold" Simply three gauges across the dash to tell you boost, oil pressure, and i think water temps. It will be on sale in america in June/July.
One last car i wanted to mention was the Hyundai Genesis, wow! I really like this car. And most think hyundais are just copies of other japanese cars, which they were, but this car has no resemblence to anything ive ever seen before. This car is curvacious and with bold body lines. Its front end it really aggressive, although i think it will be toned down a tad for production. It will have a 4.6 liter v6 as a base model, and the gt will get a 5.0 liter v8. Now, people are saying these are the same engines as the current ford mustang, but hyundai has yet to announce that. But, Korea will get a third engine option, anyone guess what it is?? An inline 4 cylinder turbo engine will be available. All models will be rear-wheel drive.
Well, to cap it off i wanted to note a big theme in this years auto show. It seemed like every car had extremly low roof lines. I would say, 2/3 of the cars had roof lines so low my head stuck out of the car. Im not a very big guy, 5'11, medium build. Although it looks really nice, functionally, i dont know. The biggest problem i had with all manufacturers was gas mileage. I know everyones been talking about this and it is a huge concern with the consumer. The average of all cars was about 18 mpg. Thats rediculous, some cars, not suvs, but mid size cars, had mileage around 11-15mpg! It seems that, although were developing new ways to save fuel and uses alternative methods, were still not getting the mpg where we need it. Hell, my 90 geo metro got 50mpg w/o hyrid synergy drive, vvti-l, or fuel injection!!! The prius gets i think 32mpg? Thats not that impressive for what its made out to be. I dont know, well heres some pics. I added a few of myself so you'll now know what i look like!

very nice. yea i agree the cars look great but still gettin crappy gas mileage aint going to help sell them. especially the "hybrids". I was hoping to see some pure electric cars there but as usual no.

That black two door, isn't that the proposed "celica"?

Which black 2 door. the flat black one that has widened fenders?

That looks like an is350, with molded handles and a 'widebody'.

yes, both matrix and corolla were built like pictured from the factory. Lets just hope maybe toyota will be so kind and allow them to see the market. The red matrix was a rally prototype for the wrc. The interior was completly gutted, had a entire roll cage and an enormous fuel cell in the back.

There is already a Turbo hatch corrola in europe. I wonder if they would just carry that over.

cool! maybe it'll be a similar engine but with this new fascia. I really would drive one of these, they look really sharp and aggressive.

agreed! I talked to one of the Hyundai spokesman and asked him the reasoning behind the Genesis. He said, Hyundai wants to distinguish themselves among imports and domestics cars. They believe by bring a front engine rear wheel drive car, Hyundai will be able to do that. Also, they understand most young consumers look for this lay-out for drifting, which Hyundai wants to be a part of. Personally, they can keep the v6 and v8, just gimme that turbo'd inline 4 cylinder.

I thought it was great! BMW, Audi, and Mercedes had many more cars than the previous year. I would post pictures, but i think you got them all covered. Cadillac impressed me too. Too bad one side was only dedicated to GM, with a tiny sections of Hyundai.
