Hey Guys im new to this site i need some help>!

Well i just bought a 1988 Celica Gts FWD 3S-GE st162 >> and has 230***KM

i have every ting runninggood but it idles at 1300 rpm some times 2400 rpm... i put the jumper in on t1 e1 and it idles ats 1000rpm then i timed it for 1000 rpm .. i have oplayed with the idle screw and it help but it still idles high?! i have check all the vaccum lines !


when i block the hole o the intake hose little bit past the air filter it idles higher . i let go and drops........ any ideas!

i have replaced the fuel filter spark plugs. vaccum lines if you can please do ...

also i put in the idle screw all the way in and it idles fine at 1300rpm

So where are you trying to get your idle 100 or 1300 ??

If you hit 1000 and need to go lower- adjust the dizzy to compensate for the extra rpms your getting.

hey now i have no power like im in 3rd gear and 4000 rpm and i think it should have more power than that going up a slight little hill

i did an compression test pistn 1 150psi piston 2 155 piston 3 155 piston 160

That sounds good (for a 20-year-old car) as stock compression, IIRC, is 173

um... are you sure you're throttle cable isn't too tight?

The IAC valve is a culprit of this problem. My 3SFE does the same thing. I have found that by blipping the throttle she will idle back down to ~1k, normally she is idling around 1.3k.

You can take the IAC off and use compressed air to clean it out, sometimes this works, or you can buy a new one. Since they run a pretty penny, most folks use the compressed air method.

Myself I have been driving the car for over a year with the funky idle.

also i dont know but you know the stoper screw on the throttle body well i back that out and the throttle butterfly adjuster thing doesnt go back all the way!!! could that be the idle problem?

Well GUYS listen if you lack power make sure!! that the internal part of the distubtor is the right way!!! i get about 70% more power but still not there !!!! im gonna check my airintake manafold and maybe regasket it !! and maybe new exsust piping
