You don't :hehe:

If it's like the other ebay "power chips", it is simply a resistor telling the ecu that it's cold out, and so it adds more fuel. With the 5sfe, that would only be a bad thing, adding more fuel.

Someone should tell them there are no 06-08 celica's

^^sorry, but they are still working to develope a chip for turbo applications. so you'll have to buy one for the st only. don't cry :p

Exactly, and they say it doesnt hurt your fuel mileage but I really dont see how it wouldnt, when the engine thinks its cold it kicks MPG in the ass. Quite honestly, I hate it when my car is warming up, idles at like 1800 RPM and same for my other 2 vehicles, I couldnt imagine having that all the time

its really sad that people get suckered into buying that ebay crap. if its correcting the air fuel ratio to stoichiometric then it will only be effective above, what is it, 80% throttle, where it richens up to nearly 10:1? maximum power is made at 12.5:1 anyways.. you cant get maximum power AND maximum fuel mileage. it just doesnt happen

I tried the "resistor mod" on my car (5SFE) and didn't notice any change at all. It was a while ago I did it, but the resistance was somewhere around 3.4k and was supposed to trick the ECU into thinking the air temp was around 50 degrees F. I put it on a toggle switch with the real air temp sensor and the car would run the same either way.

And no, I didn't buy the resistor off ebay..... I pulled it out of my parts bin.

:p

I liked reading this from the resistor auction:

How our module works:

Since 1998 we have been producing performance chips. In 1995 we purchased all of the performance chips currently available on the market. We found that each performance chip that we used had given us a performance gain in some way or another. We had run over 300 times on a dynamometer using the same vehicle with only one different variable, the different performance chip. After seeing that the average cost of the performance chip was over $300 we wondered how are these chips made. We then spent the next two years researching and through experienced electrical technicians we had discovered the SECRET. We then created 500 prototype performance chips and placed them on 500 different vehicles for testing. With a 100% success rate on every vehicle and not one of them failing we decided to offer our performance chips to our local area for sale. We have now sold over 1 million chips to our local area and throughout the USA. We have recently made some changes and decided to sell our performance chips on eBay. Since 1990, fuel injection has been in every vehicle produced. Fuel injected vehicles run on a ECU or PCM board which are basically fancy terms for a computer. We have studied and figured out that every vehicle from the car manufacturers runs rich from the factory. Your vehicle's performance relies on an Air/Fuel ratio in order to function properly. The air/fuel ratio runs at 3 different levels: Rich, Stoich and Lean. The vehicle manufacturers try to produce as much power as possible without sacrificing engine reliability, better gas mileage and the mileage between tune-ups. Our job was to figure out how to produce more power and give better gas mileage at the same time. When your vehicle is running rich you are wasting gas. For example: If you have ever seen a person accelerating quickly you may have seen black smoke coming from the back of the car, this is NORMAL. The black smoke is un-burnt fuel coming out in a liquid/gas form. This un-burnt fuel should stay in your gas tank. There is no need to throw money out the window. When your air/fuel ratio runs at stoichometric levels you are getting optimum performance along with better gas mileage. Our performance chip will allow your vehicle to run at stoichometric levels at all times! You will not need to use premium fuel although it does help our chip work even better! We are offering the current price on eBay as an introductory price and the price will go up. We are also offering a 100% money back guarantee to prove to each and every one of our valuable customers that this will give you more horsepower and save you gas money each time you go to the pump. Try one today, you cannot go wrong with our 100% hassle-free money back guarantee!

I love reading these auctions.

I have never been to Kaleco before.

FI on every vehicle since 1990? That's a load of shit, I do beleive some vehicles, though rare, were still carbed, and what happened to TBI? It was around through the 90's, as well as multi-port even if those 2 were only a GM design they still count. As for the unburnt fuel when accelerating quickly, there is a reason to be throwing that money out the door, they wouldnt just make the car dump fuel at sudden WOT and if you dont want to do that then dont mash it.

One thing though that I do enjoy is they wont release any kind of info as to how they were, expensive performance chips are an actual computer, these "secrets" are a resister in a case, woo. With that said, theres a reason why expensive chips connect to the ECU and not the air temp sensor.
