i was driving along and this guy was gunning it behind me and getting on my ass. he was driving an 89ish faded out painted fucked up the ass 2 door mx-6 gt (guessing the equivalent of a turbo probe). we pulled up to a light and he started nodding his head at me. he was a redneck with a big bushy beard smokin his cig and wearing his nascar cap, quite a character.

the light turned i employed my new clutch and squealed the wheels off the launch for a pretty damn good launch, i was ahead through first, squealed the wheels in second got to about 5 grand and he passed by my ass every so slowly and he was nodding his head up and down as was i when he passed me.

i got :owned: but it was great fun in the process :D

considering his is fi and mine is na not bad.

I doubt it was a turbo model, Turbo models usually say turbo instead of GT. You win some you lose some!

maybe he turboed it himself....

Actually, silverarrow is wrong. They do say GT on them.

Those fuckers fly. It's a beefy ass 2.2 liter turbo, no doubt it kicked your ass. My buddy has a 91 Probe GT that we rebuilt, fucker ran low 13's with exhaust, boost controller and Tbird turbo.

Weird because my neighbor's car only says Turbo in the rear. No GT sign.

Buddy o' mine just bought a '90 anal Probe for $600 to drive to work to save gas. It's got a turbo but says gt on back. It's a little quick, but it's still an ugly American heap os sh!t!!

It's not that difficult of a concept. GT = Turbo.

You have to realize that he probably didn't have traction. Those things put those numbers to the wheels. And that's stock.

You probably killed him in 1st only because of lag, 2nd gear he was probably gaining hard then passed you.

Anyone know if those cars are limited like the alltracs in 1st and 2nd gears stock? My alltrac in 1st gear would only hit 4 psi then 6 in 2nd then 8 in 3rd 4th and 5th. After one simple mod that problem is fixed. 12 psi in all gears :)

they run 15.5ish stock 145hp 190lb/ft. all gt = turbo. turbo = gt for both the probe and mx-6. the only thing american about the probe is the name badge. they even say right in the door made for ford by mazda. not sure about the probes but all mx6 gts' had electronic auto adjusting suspension. some even had optional all wheel stearing. the typical mod route that includes the Tbird turbo will see you around 225hp 300lb/ft. I would take one in a second. if one was really ambitious there is a jdm model that was awd and diesel.

Yeah, I'm driving one right now. My brakes went out on the celica, so my buddy let me drive it.

It's a torque monster. I get wheel spin/ torque steer from a dead stop and 50-60% throttle on dry pavement... only mod is a full 3" turbo back exhaust. If you get a cone filter, a Tbird turbo, exhaust and a chip, you can boost 17 psi all day long and make some REALLY nice numbers.

Do note that they have a rediculously low compression stock, about 7.8:1 if I remember correctly. So, off boost they suck, but on it they're fun. When we re-built this car, we upped it to 8.5:1 and the car is a lot easier to drive, if you ignore the light ass flywheel and beefy clutch.

BTW, probes have adjustable suspension too. God they're fun cars.
