Finally, a nice day when I can take some pics of the latest mods to Rufus. Here's the list of the latest things done added to the spec list in my intro post -

* New paint job, similar grey to the original but that bit darker and a bit more metalic
* New graphics, Skewer version of the Corolla Castrol kit sized for the ST185 finished in gemstone black and red
* Hi-Spec brake upgrade - fronts have 325x32mm vented grooved disks with EBC Redstuff pads within gold 4 pot calipers. Rears - new disks with matching groove pattern and Redstuff pads, calipers painted gold
* Final carbon panel under the bonnet, alloy power steering tank and bonnet strut moved to the passenger side wheel strut
* Last but not least, Neeltec Qwad headlight conversion, looking tip top and lighting up the night nicely :luvy:

I would think your theory correct, except for the fog lights, lowering and wheels. dun-dun-dunnnnnnnnn!

Mook! are these cars the same or not?

Mr Celica

the license plates are the same, the toyota logo on the windshield is the same, the carbon fiber front lip thing is the same. and i believe i saw another post with that castrol car by this guy.

its a sick car nonetheless and would easily give my left (or right) nut for it.

(hey, you only need one, right?)

That is the same car. He changed the graphics and got a respray. He posted about the before, this is the after.

So what do you think of the Neeltec lights? I don't think anyone on this side of the pond ever got them, but they cause a fuss every now and then. It is over $1,000USD for the lights.

I like how the graphics are muted, that is one of my favorite things about this car. It makes it pop less.

Wow guys, many thanks for the responses and glad that it's gone down well :D

They are indeed the same car, that other picture was taken about two years ago when I had my previous wheels, before the rear mudflaps were fitted and obviously before the respray and new graphics. It hadn't been lowered any more since then, that's just the larger wheels, but I needed to remove the foggies in order to get space for the oil cooler and PAS cooler.

I use the car to promote my graphics business which it why it has the fancy logos on it ;) I did like the old ghosted graphics, and many people seemed to like it too, but it never got any attention from the publications at the jap shows throughout the year, so I needed something a little bit more obvious while still retaining some of the ghosted aspect.

The splitters I had made up by a glass fibre company close to me. I had a few made up and have a couple of spare sets left, bit cheaper than the carbon fibre cooling panels at least.

The lights are made by a friend of mine called Lee Norton who trades under the name of Neeltec. This is only the second set he's completed. The first were made a couple of years back as a pre-req to a group buy but it never went ahead at the time. Thanks to a few more GT4OC club members and myself we badgered him enough to do a group buy, so he's now in the process of making another 7 sets. In order to keep the costs down he has to get a few done at any one time (at least 5) and due to the increased interest he might well be doing another group buy in the spring if anyone wanted to hop on it. At present I don't think his website is working, but I'll update as soon as I know :)

It was basicly a case of send him your original light housings which he then alters with the frame, lights, wiring and surround before sending them back ready to pop straight in. Was an initial none returnable deposit of 150 followed by the final 300 upon completion. Having got them sorted again he can turn them round within a couple of weeks. The lights themselves are a pair of projectors for the dipped beam and ordinary halogen main beams. They are a big improvement over the standard lights though, you can actually see stuff at night!

I would love a set as soon as I could afford it, could he do a set with halo's and HID projectors? Also do the kits come with the proper sprockets so the lgihts only lift a certain amount since the lights are smaller than factory? I'd love to learn more

Not at present mate, but will try and get some. I'm hoping for a magazine feature in the new year and I'm sure they'd get one or two good ones :)

With regards options on the lights, I believe he can do HIDs but then it's extra $$ for that. I'll let him know you guys are interested and we'll see what he comes up with on his next run :)

hey man that is a beautiful paintjob. what is the specific name for the paint and was the metallic look added to the paint in the mixture?

I've not actually got the paint code off the chap, been meaning to get it for a while! It's a similar colour to those used on the top German motors, the modern 'classic' colour. We didn't add any more metal flake in the end as it was quite sparkly anyway, and then the sparkles within the vinyl really shine :)
