Hey all!

Is there a simple way to visually tell if a Toyota transaxle has an LSD? I've hear that if you remove the drive axles and look through, if there is a metal bar in there its non-LSD and if there a clear view straight through its an LSD. Is this correct?

Cheers,
Berg

Berg, That only applies to the mr2 E-153 units for the mr2 turbos.

That does not apply to any other toyota transmission. Controversey is rampant when it comes to this topic, but I speak the truth :D The bar rule does NOT apply to S-series transmission! This is both anecdotal evidence, as well as book knowledge.

Do you have a particular question?

Ok. I bought a 4A-GZE from a Levin that came with a transaxle. I am wondering if I should put the transaxle in or use my old one. It all comes down to whether or not it has an LSD. I would like to know how to tell if it's an LSD model or not without taking it all apart.

Thanks for the info.
